Still in Calgary... The wanderlust is unbearable. We are still hoping to win the lottery so we can go travel the world asap and have our destination wedding in Japan. We can't wait to get married!
My fiance Rob and I are back in Calgary, Canada after about 2 years in Korea in a suburb of Seoul called Bundang. I'd compare it to Asia Town in Calgary on speed. Neon signs and mile high concrete buildings in a haze of smog. It was an amazing experience.
The stories we have to tell no one at home would believe.
While in Asia we visited Japan and the Philippines. Both are fabulous places to see. Japan is highly stimulating and always interesting. The Philippines was very relaxing and so beautiful.
We made it down to southern South Korea just before we left. We went through Gyeongju, Daegu, and Busan. Visited several temples, shrines, and historic sights: Anapji, Tumuli, Bulguksa, Seokguram, Gulgulsa, Girimsa, Heinsa, Haeundae and many places in between. Checked out the cities. Rode the KTX, by the way if you haven't travelled by bullet train you really need to. To anyone in Korea, if you haven't been to some of these great places go check them out.
Most recently we visited Cuba in September 2007 to celebrate both of our August birthdays. It was amazing! We stayed at a hotel on Varadero beach. The ocean was like a warm bath. The sand like powdered sugar. The air was hot and humid. The lobster was delicious, do try it if you go. The rum was strong and so inexpensive, all locally produced. The cigars were plentiful, inexpensive, and deep. Buy lots of rum and cigars to take home! The crafts we found at the various markets are so creative and beautiful. We packed a bag full of just wood crafts. The people are so friendly and fun. Havana is so beautiful! The architecture is stunning and the history is incredible. When you cross Cuba's tallest bridge from Matanzas to Havana provence take a break at the rest stop and have the world's best pina colada. Cuba is a must re-visit!
