The Pop Offs

About Me

The Pop Offs
Hmmm… the Popoffs… Well for both of those of you who care, the Popoffs began with a shotgun wedding of sorts. Larry had become disillusioned with his band, the Herding Cats, at the same time the band, Big Radio, was searching for a bass player. After filling in for a few gigs Larry joined John, Stu and Brice and changed the name of the band to the Popoffs. After a few months Brice left the band to pursue his teaching career. He was the only smart one in the band. They soon found no one in their right mind would play with them so they became a three-piece outfit. After a few years of complete obscurity Stu Left to pursue a real life. Since Chris ( aka CC ) had no real life and his band M-set blew up, he joined Larry and John to keep them from killing each other. There's a lot of love and alcohol in this band...This shouldn’t surprise anyone with a brain. After all none of the guys is a virtuoso musician or vocalist who studied with Maestro David Kyle in Seattle who has trained local talents like Geoff Tate and Ann Wilson. None of them have ever been recognized by their peers (or anyone else for that matter) for their musicianship, showmanship, professionalism, as outstanding performers, dynamic, powerful, always wowing the crowd or anything else. They have never played with artists such as Joan Jett, David Lee Roth, Styx, Jimi Hendrix, Loverboy, Pat Benetar, Smokey Robinson, The Neville Brothers, Paul Rogers...the voice of Free, Bad Company, and The Firm...in Paul's solo band, or any other national recording artists and never played anywhere national recording artists have played. They’re not Seattle's finest musicians or truly unforgettable. They’re just a group of guys who would rather play music than flip burgers at Burger King (although Larry loves Whoppers). They’re merely three boneheads having a great time playing and sharing with people their love of music, trying to make a few bucks and have a good time doing it. The end…
As you can see in the calendar below we play a weekly show at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Bellevue on Thursday nights and it is free!
Here's a video taken from a live show at the Rock Bottom Brewery. Lighting and sound are weak, but you get the idea. There a bunch more on youtube.
