Bush on the Constitution: 'It's just a goddamned piece of paper'
Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.
Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.
GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.
“I don’t give a goddamn,†Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.â€
“Mr. President,†one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.â€
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,†Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!â€
I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.â€

I was just Thinking, Of how this war has effected his mentally and physically.I think that We think that we are doing a great job with war, that we Freed them from big bad Saddam But the death toll in Iraq hasn't been at this record in years and we are sad when a soldier dies. A mother somewhere is in grief because her son has Died. Did ever think they think we are the enemy and that they are protecting the Nation. Did you ever think that this is a war over OIL, That when a Man or a Son of a women from Iraq doesn't cry or have feelings. Think it this way, What would you say if, Lets say Canada Invaded America yes ha ha. Yes lets say them what would u say, Would you say wow that are amazing, they came to save us from our Horribly smart President. Then we attack to save our president Because we are Commanded. Then Canada says those fucking retarded people they need are help. So they start killing millions of Americas because well they are saving us. Yes why are we not screaming in joy when the bombs fall on our homes, jobs, school, and "Walmarts". We would be in terror. But really who are the terrorists, ask yourselfAll in All i just want you to think about the people Iraq, not to curse there names but to have sympathy. When a soldier dies, and you curse the Iraq people. But instead of cursing them you should hope for some Peace. That is all i am asking nothing big.I dont think you would like to be invaded by a different country, But also no other country wants to.
