About Me

Miranda Quammie grew up in London and St. Vincent and writes ballads, pop songs and meditative, beat-driven tracks that reflect her dual heritage and examine themes such as identity, memory, childhood, the English landscape - both urban and pastoral, and travel to name a few. Often influenced by literature, she works to create a lyrical depth and melodic poignancy that attest her interest in the narrative and poetic power of song.
She has been performing her songs live at the piano since 2005 at venues across London such as the Hope and Anchor, the Cobden Club, the Bedford, the Soho Revue Bar, Ginglik, the Troubadour and in 2009 she played a 45-minute set at the renowned Union Chapel.
Miranda was selected as a nominee for the 2007 Indy Music Awards for her live performance.
Miranda has performed live and been interviewed on Resonance radio. In addition, her recordings have been played on several different Resonance programmes, including the Rough Trade programme.
Miranda has recently expanded her live set-up to include a ‘cellist and she hopes to add a percussionist and a loop player in the near future.
Miranda has worked hard to set up a home studio and to develop production skills. Using these she is currently recording her debut album and aims to be finished within the next few months. She intends to release this album under her own label and to find distribution.
“Her songs have the rare quality of being able to draw you into a private world, a world of her own creation, while still allowing you to discover nuances and sensations of your own.” Small Fish Review, November 2006
