About Me

Hi, my name is Joe Mozdzen. I am a photographer, a designer, and a writer, and am well-published and decently-paid in all three categories. I have been published in Time, Newsweek, Elle, Elle Girl, Teen Vogue, Squeeze, Fanzine137, Vanity Fair, GQ, B&W Magazine and a bunch of other magazines I can't think of at the moment. I am hard at work on my first book of photography. Other clients of mine include: Geffen Records, Universal Records, Sheraton Hotels, Surfrider Foundation, Georgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Pacific Symphany Orchestra, Audubon Society, the Sierra Club and I have created the design packages for over 100 restaurants. My photography and design does not attempt to be trendy, flashy, or loud. No flashy overdone photoshop burnishing. My work is informed by my interests in zen, design, poetry and spirituality. I own a graphic design consultancy that works exclusively with environmental and social change organizations, and green businesses. I also just started a new sustainability consulting and project developemnt firm. Check it out. www.thriveunl.com I drive a hybrid. I am a buddhist, a tree-hugger, and organic food fanatic, and do my best to make a smaller, not a larger (nor louder) footprint on the physical and spiritual plain. I live on the beach. I have a cat. I write letters to my friends..on paper...with a pen. I have great friends. If you are familiar with the term Wabi Sabi you have earned points already.I have always enjoyed being who I am. I enjoy my own company - methinks it is a prerequisite to enjoying the company of others, and being enjoyed by them. I am a deeply caring person but not a pushover. I am giving and generous with my attention but at the same time require a fair amount of "down-time" and self-introspection. I try to stay in the now, rather than the "over there!"I am 5'9", 150 pounds. Brown hair, green eyes. In decent shape but not gym shape. I am happy, centered, and take nothing for granted. Things I'm into: photography, graphic design, writing, reading, live music (esp jazz), deep travel, other cultures, biodiversity, hiking, yoga, backpacking, what's left of the beach, organic food, sustainability, coffee, popcorn, fireplaces, bookstores, europe.Pray Meditate Be aware/Stay awake Bow Practise yoga Feel Chant and sing Breathe and smile Relax/Enjoy/Laugh/Play Create/Envision Let Go/Forgive Accept Walk/Exercise/Move Work/Serve/Contribute Listen/Learn/Enquire Consider/Reflect Cultivate oneself/Enhance competencies Cultivate contentment Cultivate flexibility Cultivate friendship and collaboration Lighten up Celebrate and appreciate Dream Give thanks Evolve Love Share/Give/Receive Walk softly/Live gently Expand/Radiate/Dissolve Simplify Surrender/Trust Be born anew .. ..

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Collaborators. Communicators. People with open minds and open hearts. Wise elders. Wise youngsters. Readers. Writers. Artists. People who honor food as a miracle and a sacrament. Spiritual souls that still function on the everyday plain. Thoughtful people who prefer long conversations and long dinners and good wines. Those who have patience with the world and with themselves. People who are never bored or in need of emotional spoon-feeding 24/7. Adventurers. Surfers. Poets. Advocates. Monks. Learners. Meditators. The peaceful. Those who serve. Good scrabble players. Thinkers. Doers. Those with a good balance of patience and passion. Thoughtful people. Those that know how to write a thank you note. People who love popcorn and fireplaces. Tea lovers. Chocolate purists. Generous people with great wine cellars. Oh, and those with a sense of humor. Come to me.
