Many people ask us what by the mantle stands for.......
Its pretty simple, by the mantle means that we are people living by the mantle (the mantle shore deep inside the earth). Of course we dont means this literally, its more like metaphorically...(if thats even a word). See, we figured that underground music has reached the level where its commercial now to be underground, you have them fools studying "hip hop" and the whole culture thing, but what really is hip hop? A form of expression? Art (physical & mental) Soul? Life?....the answer.......All of the above, n them some really!
The people by the mantle beleive that the earth is in its final days of fronting and schemeing to shine its grill n make a million slaves to its ways. The earth has being a jail cell housing industry criminals raping this so called "hip hop" and using it to build its temple of greed and hipocrasy. Everybody wants to get rich, everybody wants the fame, every body wants to be the man....but nobody wants the real thing.....life,...soul,...art,...expression.....hip hop.
As KRS One once put it..."you are not doing hip hop, you are hip hop".....that's the truth. If you ever came accross a personal event, a memory, a gathering w/one of the elements of hip hop without knowing it was called hip hop...then you are on the right path. But if you heard of hip hop and then decided you were going to do hip hop cuz you like what you saw on tv or a magazine.....then get off the bandwagon and wait for hip hop to touch your life personally.........beleive me, you'll know when it does.
Until then, keep diggin cuz one day you too will be by the mantle......................you know why,...cuz everybody goes to hell anyway, the problem is trying to figure out what path you're going to take from heaven to hell.......Now thats something to think about. peace...
