Who says that you can't meet your soulmate in a bar? Not me, for one, and not Alfonso, for two! Yes, I met my fiancee, Alfonso, in a little karaoke bar called Frankie J's, in Palm Desert, CA, over 3 years ago (May 2005). It was your mythical, classic epic where the Hero (Alfonso) fell to the lure of the Siren (me) and crashed his boat into my rocks and became shipwrecked for life. LOL---Okay, in laymen's terms, as he was ordering his drink at the bar, he all of the sudden heard the sweet sounds of me belting out one of my favorite tunes, "Who Will Save Your Soul" by Jewel. From that moment on, he was hooked! What can I say? I'm just good like that. :^)
Ironically enough, we were both bartenders at that time working at two completely different bars in the Palm Springs area. How amusing is that?
Since our chance encounter several years ago (or was it fate?), we left the "bright lights" of Palm Springs and moved into our house on our big-ass, multi-acre ranch in Joshua Tree (NO, it's not just the cover of a U2 album, damn it!). It's awesome here! We can see the National Park from our house (did I mention that I LOVE venturing in National Parks!?!). Our dogs have lots of room to run, and we have a place for a few horses in the future. And the best part --- no fucking neighbors! Weeee!
Here's some great views from our home. Look at the second image; those mountains in the distance, that's "Joshua Tree National Park".
We have children...8 to be exact...and they all have fur. Okay, so we don't have any children of the human species yet, but we'll adopt someday when we're ready. But in the meantime, we have 2 Rottweilers (Bear and LaLa) and 4 cats (Dakota, Denali, Kitana, and Marley). They are all rescues and EVERYONE is spayed/neutered; I hope you do the same!
Update as of 02/20/08:
On this bittersweet day, Jack is no longer with us in this realm; he now cuddles up to my little sister, Kelli. We found that he had genetic liver/kidney failure, and we had to put him to rest to stop any further suffering. Our hearts are broken, and things just won't be the same without our little "Fly Whisperer". Please be aware that liver/kidney failure is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to spot before it's too late, according to my vet. The best way to detect it early enough is to get an annual blood work panel for the kidney/liver/glucose. It costs roughly $70, and it's worth it if you love your cats as your children. The vet said for every 1 dog she sees with this, she sees another 7 to 8 cats. Don't lose your furbabies to this!
Update as of 09/26/08:
Actually, this update should've been done this last March, but I guess denial and avoidance got the best of me. Zeus also got very sick; she contracted FIP from Jack and passed away a few weeks later. Fortunately, the rest of our babies are all doing well and are healthy, but it still breaks my heart to think about the loss of our other 2 babies.
To sum it up, I'm an original Yankee. That's right...born and raised in Southeastern Connecticut! And let's just get one fact straight, PLEASE: people from New York are NOT Yankees, damn it!!! Here's your Public Service Announcement --- Genuine Yankees come from New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine); not New York! And now you know. :^) :::cue rainbow:::
I digress...I'm from Connecticut, but I have spent my adult years living throughout Rhode Island, Vermont (LOVED IT!), South Carolina (HATED IT!), and California (LIKING IT). I also have done a lot of traveling; for example, in 1998, I spent 2 months traveling the country in my Ford Ranger solo; I was 20 years old at the time. It was the best thing I have ever done! In addition, I've also been to Scotland, Canada, Mexico, and Bahamas.
Beyond my external fun-loving, giggly, and shining personality, I do have a serious side. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering my time to help others, and others who do the same get extra brownie points from me. I work with Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Humane Society of the Desert, and other various local non-profit organizations. I am also a member of several environmentalist organizations (NPCA, The Living Desert, The Sierra Club...just to name a few). And yes, I do practice what I preach --- I'm an organic nut! Not like a Walnut, but like a crazy, lunatic nut. Even my pups and kitties use organic shampoo and eat holistic food. If you don't know the importance of using organics, do some research...you may just find yourself shocked. No, I'm not a vegetarian, but I search out small farms that treat their animals with respect through the entire process (free-range, organic, no steriods/antibiotics). Support your local farmers; they're the future of this planet!
I'm an entrepreneur who's always trying to find the best way to make profit (not just for me and my family, but so I can help many charitable organizations, as well).
I bartend (freelance)...something I love doing. Nothing like people worshiping you because you hold the power of the sweet, sweet nectar that they all so desire. ;^)
In addition to all of that, I am also an author-in-the-making. I'm creating a book called, "Perfection: It is Me!" (www.MySpace.com/Project_PIIM). It's a book about self-acceptance, self-love (NO, not masturbation, you pervert!), and self-respect. It's so horrible to see how so many beautiful girls and women hate theirselves for no good reason. I used to be that girl/woman, but I'm not anymore. I want to help others find their way to that freedom and happiness.
To be successful in a business/job, I believe that networking is a requirement.
With emphasis on networking, I'd like to share a few valuable resources that any business or service can find useful:

* I love laughing; a sick and twisted sense of humor will keep my attention.
* I'm not political, but I am aware.
* I'm pro-choice.
* I think smoking around children is child abuse/endangerment. If you smoke around your children, then, seriously...
* You know those "Feed the children" commericals? I am compassionate of their situation; however, I think sending over birth control rather than money for food would be more productive.
* I think, overall, men are hosed by the legal system when it comes to child support and visitation; they get the shit end of the stick. Women who unnecessarily put good, decent men through this hell, I hope you burn in whatever afterlife you may meet.
* I believe in karma.
* Generally speaking, I am not a judgmental person. However, I think poorly of people who irresponsibly breed their dogs, cats (etc) for profit. Come on, people! There are literally over 3 - 4 million dogs and 3 - 4 million cats that are unnecessarily KILLED every year because people don't spay and neuter their pets. Have some FUCKING compassion!!!
* I support gay marriage. Damn Government --- Ever hear of the separation between church and state!?!?
* I respect everyone's religious choices, but please respect mine and don't attempt to recruit me. It's not going to happen.
* I wholeheartedly do not agree with prayer in public school. Rather, a moment of silence for each individual to honor whatever it is that they honor should be offered.
* I believe that the practice of yoga can heal so much (both inside and out); I've experienced proof of this multiple times.
* If your racist in any way, shape, or form, don't bother me. My family is made up of the United Nations: Puerto Rican cousins, African-American Grandpa (who married my Grandma) and African-American Grandma (who married my Grandpa), Filipino cousins, and a Mexican fiance & (Mexican and El Salvadorian) in-laws. Seriously, go be a bigot somewhere else.
* My philosophy: Enjoy life while it's here; you never know when your time will be up. In the words of Carlos Mencia, "If you ain't laughing, you ain't living."
