About Me

William was born on June 20, 1966. With his father playing the drums, and his mother being a dedicated singer, it’s no wonder little William inherited the musical genes of both his parents. It did take William some time, though, to put his vocal talents on display. In 1990 he was discovered by a couple of showbiz buffs, which led to a cd recording. The great Toots Thielemans also took part in this project. The album, however, never made it to the stores, but it did serve as an incentive for William’s professional future. In 1991, William formed his very own live band: Groove Garden. With befriended musicians who shared William’s passion for energetic and high-quality (live) music. Today, Groove Garden has become a seven-headed collective. At first, Groove Garden mostly played powerful rock. Thanks to numerous live shows in smaller venues, the band soon gained a solid live reputation. This got them to perform on huge festivals like ‘De Gentse Feesten’ and ‘Marktrock’. Furthermore, the band often functioned as the resident orchestra of the Radio One show “Levende Lijven”, on air from 1996 till 2001.Over the years, Groove Garden has left its rocky sound it started out with and embraced a more soulful repertoire. A natural evolution, as it became quite clear during all those live shows that William has an outstandingly soulful voice. It was this musical journey with Groove Garden that enabled William to master his unique voice.1999 saw the birth of the musical liaison between William and the renowned Ralph and Ronny Samantha, also known as the Samantha Brothers. They formed a disco orchestra called “Samantha Brothers Luv Orchestra”. This was an oddity back then, as the disco revival was not yet unleashed. The band exclusively consisted of top musicians from the jazz and pop scene. That’s why the “Luv Orchestra” gained a supreme live reputation in no time, bringing highly explosive live show to festivals, theatres and events. And not only the audience went wild. The media also gave great attention to this project, thanks to the CD recordings of some super catchy adaptations of disco classics such as ‘Hold Back The Night’, ‘Heaven’ and ‘We Are Family’.By now, William is well known as one of the best singers the new generation has brought forth. Thanks to his trademark black and soulful voice, he has become a frequent guest in music shows on Belgian national television. In front of millions of viewers, he brought impressive renditions of all time classics such as ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Me & Mss. Jones’, ‘We’ve Got Tonight’, ‘The River’, ‘Licence to Kill’, and ‘Mr. Bojangles’, making himself inimitable in the musical landscape. That’s why anyone who’s fanatical about music has already been surprised, excited or touched by William’s unique voice.
