About Me

~The Vision Serpents formed in January of 2004 in Getzville, NY. Matt teamed up with Rob, and Dan after they ended a previous band with Andy called The Heavily Medicated Butterbabies (formally The Magical Doughboyz). The first benefit show was for the Western New York Food Bank just before Thanksgiving. After a year of playing mostly keg parties, and some gigs Andy returned to round out the sound, and increase the musical diversity. Andy fit in quick, and well seeing as he also previously played with Matt in the bands Starlab, and Guidelines. ~~2005 was a success for The Vision Serpents. Their first release was on the soundtrack to "Something, Anything", an independant film from local company Novim Productions. They played many shows including benefits for the WNY Coalition for Progress, and Crisis Services of WNY. The Vision Serpents gained radio airplay on 91.3 FM WBNY (Buffalo State College). WBNY voted The Vision Serpents for the top 6 bands to play in their annual "battle of the bands". Some other big shows for them were in Toronto, Canada with friends Republic of Safety, and a gig at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. The Vision Serpents also made a live demo called "Live in ’05". ~~~In 2006 The Vision Serpents took to the studio with producer and close friend, Adam Schmidt. Not enough songs we’re recorded to make a full length, so the band decided to wait on the album. The band did not play as many gigs in 2006, but continued to play more important shows than the average "keg party". In June they returned to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery for another free concert, and played at a benefit for Dan’s Uncle with Parkinsons Disease. One of their biggest shows to date was at the Buffalo Icon opening up for The New Deal. ~~~~During 2007 the band wrote many new songs and made a demo called "DEM’O7". In the Summer the band played it’s first festival gig at the Rhubarb Family Picnic in Mt. Morris, NY. Dan decided to part ways with The Vision Serpents, but has mentioned guest appearing sometimes on the Moog keyboard synth. ~~~~~In 2008 The Vision Serpents aquired friend, and bassist Curt Rotterdam. He introduced the band to Rachel Marriott. Her singing takes the band to a new level. Now there are almost no instrumental songs. The Vision Serpents hope to return to the studio very soon to release their debut full length.
