personality test by similarminds.com"He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." ~Friedrich Nietzsche
The first half of this year I embarked on an incredible journey; I learned so much about myself, others, and this amazing world. The kind of love I always believed in but never could seem to make work finally had its chance, and proved that holding on and truly believing when failures and the world around you would lead you astray will pay off unendingly. It is in times of hopelessness that the smallest shred of hope may work the greatest deeds. Though I'm single again, and it hurts to have lost something so wonderful, I look to this new day with the same hope that brought immeasurable happiness to the times now before me. An era ends, but lament I do not, for it gives rise to new beginnings. A dream perishes, but the promise of the future persists. I know even greater love lay ahead in the future, and ever do I look forward to when I should hold that someone. Among the stars that shine brightly in the depths of space lay remnants of wonders long gone; wonders that glow still with such beauty, for from them the stars of the present draw the strength to shine.
"We cannot hold a torch to light another's path without brightening our own." ~Ben Sweetland
Without any absolute direction at the given moment, I feel the need to only continue improving body and mind, broadening my horizons, and raising my consciousness. Running has become more than an interest; it is a way of life. I wish to return to the martial arts and regain my flexibility one day soon. Something about taking your body to its very limits has always appealed to me. I have practically finished my CIS major and History minor, but look now to add another major and one or two minors. I love the town I live in, the job I have, and above all, the people I know. However, I also enjoy the path of the wayfarer immensely - I love to travel, be it but a few miles down a lonely highway in the dead of night or far across the sea to China (my only international destination heresofar).
"Amor vincit omnia." ("Love conquers all") - Latin
I've always been some kind of big unity-loving hippie type fella, and in the last year or so that mentality has grown even stronger. Love and friendship exist on a level above all else. There's far more in this world than we could ever possibly love, and so much that desperately needs our love; why waste time hating things? So much possibility exists out there, limited only our imaginations. As long as we believe, nothing else really matters.
"Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it."
~Buddha If you were in Red vs Blue, who would you be?

If I were a character in The Lord of the Rings , I would be Gandalf, Wizard, a guardian against the Dark Lord.

My Interests

You show me something new, and I'll almost always find something about it I like. More importantly than anything below, though, I seek but a few simple things: 1) someone to love, hold, love me, and hold me, 2) serving friends, family and others to the utmost, 3) finally moving closer to da big G-O-D, and 4) that small measure of peace that few of us ever find. I had 4/4 there for a while... guess nothing lasts forever.Making at least one person smile, laugh, or be happier each day. Worthy your day is not until you've made someone else's better.

Completing an Ironman Triathlon - Going to Outer Space - Martial Arts - International Cultures - World Travel - Sketching (though I've no talent for it, it sure is purdy hehe) - generating personal insights and inspirations - running - training both body and mind, for as the Greeks believed, one must have both strong mind and body. Writing, when I find the peace to do so and haven't forgotten I wanted to write something. The worst feeling in the world is letting a great thought slip out of memory, for the fact you had it haunts you far longer.

Things I am interested in but sadly do not pursue much:
Ancient History - Medieval History - Japanese History - Poetry - Philosophy - What I want from life -

I'd like to meet:

Bono, the lead singer of U2 - Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, Zelda, and all things Nintendo cool - Anthony Hopkins - Bill Gates - Batman -

Music:

I love music that moves you. It's the music which you not only hear but feel that I value most. Don't care if it's lyrics or instrumental... indie or mainstream... there's so much to hate about a lot of music, yes, but there's so much to love, too. I even do film scores, and dig some mushy songs, too. So sue me... I'm a sucker for sap.

Rock Section:
Silvertide - Foo Fighters - Goo Goo Dolls - Rage Against the Machine - Counting Crows - Smashing Pumpkins - Dashboard Confessional - Something Corporate - Straylight Run - Yellowcard - Santana - Queen - Aerosmith - Head Automatica - The Black Crowes - Lifehouse - The Calling - Scorpions - Bon Jovi - U2 - Lenny Kravitz - Evanescence - Live - No Doubt - Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Dispatch - The Decemberists - The Eagles - Nonpoint - Hawthorne Heights -

Other Stuff Section (crap if I know what to call it): Michael Franti - Michael Jackson - Boyz II Men - Seal - Brian McKnight - Bob Marley - Sugar Hill Gang - Blessid Union of Souls - Dave Matthews Band - Frank Sinatra - Josh Groban - Selena - Marc Anthony - Garth Brooks - George Strait - Jack Johnson

Movies:

The Last Samurai. Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Braveheart. The Mask of Zorro. First Blood (1st Rambo movie). The 13th Warrior. Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. Rocky, Rocky, Rocky... everything Rocky. Bloodsport. ID4: Independence Day. Dune (the 2000 version). Garden State. Hook. The Land Before Time. The Lion King. A Walk to Remember. Ninja Turtles 1 and 2. Spiderman 2. The Notebook. Tristan+Isolde. If Only. The Pursuit of Happyness. Casino Royale. Superman Returns. Mission Impossible 3.

Books:

Reading Machiavelli's The Prince. Beginning on a trek through old school works such as the aformentioned, Marcus Aureilus' Meditations, and The Art of War by Sun Tzu. Follow it up with Bruce Lee's The Tao of Jeet Kune Do. Favorites include:
Lord of the Rings Trilogy - The Jungle - The Book of Lost Tales - The Prydain Chronicles

Heroes:

"The New Heroes," a few everyday people I've come to know here and there in the last few months that I look up to the most. - Mrs. Walker - Bruce Lee - Any Ironman Triathlete - Albert Einstein - Astronauts - Katsumoto from The Last Samurai :) ..
