About Me

..
none
I was born in Manizales, a small city in central Colombia, SouthAmerica. Growing up in an Andean city located at 8,000 feet above sealevel made my musical journey and eventual arrival at electronic musicespecially unique. I was drawn to music from a very young age, andtook up playing guitar in my early teens. The music scene in Colombiais dominated by traditional music, Latin pop, and a relatively smallalternative punk and rock scene.
In my early teens, I made friendswith people that worked at a local recording studio. I developed apassion for recording, and in my late teens started experimenting withsampling at the studio. I eventually began taking on bands and otherrecording projects in the studio.
At age 17 I formed a rock band andplayed in various cities throughout Colombia. After manydisagreements with the drummer in the band, another band member and Idecided to learn how to program the drumbeats so we wouldn’t have todeal with the drummer anymore. We could then make drumbeats that wefelt flowed with the music. This was my introduction to electronicbeat-making.
I then moved to Ontario, Canada to further continue my learningprocess in the art of recording. In August 2003 I graduated from theOntario Institute of Audio Recording and upon graduation I moved toMontreal.
After being in Montreal for a year and frustrated with theelectronic music scene there, I moved definitively to the U.S. I wentto New Hampshire for the summer of 2004 to work on my album ‘Simple’.After I finished “Simple”, I went to South America while the paperworkrequired to permanently stay in the US was being processed.
I spent 7 months in 2004-2005 traveling throughout South America, working onideas and programming my next album. I spent time in Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina. When it was time to come back to the U.S, I decidedto move to Philadelphia.
It’s been over two years since I moved toPhilly and I finished an album in January 2006 titled “Balance”. Forthis album I worked with a couple of vocalists from this area (SoniaSheard and Colleen McMillian).
After the completion of Balance, I started looking for a project that I could take to a live performance. It was then when I met Bevin Caulfield and we decided to start a band. We called the band "Quintero".
Quintero has become my main project and I'm happy to say that it's been a great project to be involved with. We release our first LP in May 07. We called it "The Forbidden World". We have been playing live extensively.
