King Sun - XL Album. DJ Amo have been a DJ since 1984. He was 10yrs old when he started DJing. At 10 years old DJ Amo started to do odd jobs in the hood trying to earn money to buy his first Technic 1200 turntables cause Amo didn't own his own and always used his friends. Amo's Farther made a deal with him. he will match every doller that he make. so Amo started making his money. 12 weeks later Amo walked up to his Dad and gave him $535 His dad was mad but he kept his end of the deal. Amo was happy cause he had his own pair of Technic 1200 turntables. but most of all DJ Amo didn't have to go to his Friends house to use theirs any more and have his friends steal his favorite scracth points. DJ Amo decided to keep his Graffitti Name Amo. for 2 years all he did was practice all day. by the age of 12 DJ Amo started becoming one of the sickest hip hop cutting & scratch DJ’s in his hood . DJing block partys along side local DJ’s like Ron G, Chill Will FTE, Grand Shocker, Double R, Kid Capri & Doo Wop. DJ Amo was known as the youngest in charge aka Baby Capri . Amo was only 12 years old making a name for him self by battling other DJ's at their own parties turning their own crowds against them . Amo love to Battle and he battled any DJ that got within 5 feet from him. But all good things come to an end. The Art of scratching started to die with the rise of House Music. so Amo decided to pratice his mixing and blend skills.
By the age of 15 DJ Amo mastered the Art of DJing, mixing and Remixing becoming a well known House & Hip Hop DJ and started to kill the club dance floors with his skillful use of 3 turntables. DJing as many as 4 to 5 Clubs a week. making $500 to $700 a Party. This is how he got the name of the Fly Guy cause of the vain appearance that he maintained. Few Clubs DJ Amo did in the 90's was Ego Trip, Mars, Tunnel , Roseland, Power House, The Fever, Octogon, Crane Club, Cat Club, Califonia Club, Home Base, Visions, The Marquee, The Warehouse, The Palm Tree, Tempo, The World, The Fevor,
The Movement, Palladium, Limelight, Moon Lighting, Nightlife,The Oasis and the List can go for ever. Amo did guess DJ spots for Radio stations like WNYU 89.1 FM, DJ 6 weeks in the Summer of 93 for WBLS 107.5 Kiss FM for The Lunch House mix at noon, Hot 97 Midnight Rave DJing Live from Roseland and live from Limelight. Being 15 with no bills to pay DJ Amo started to buy studio equipment to start making remixes of songs to play at the clubs. DJ Amo became a big name at the clubs due to the fact that he played Edit versions & remixes of songs that no one had. Everyone says they Started Blends but I can SAY DJ AMO IS THE FIRST TO BLEND HIP HOP WITH HOUSE MUSIC. A style that everyone is doing now. DJ Amo then started to get requested to do remixes for some of the top house artist on Strictly Rhythm Records. Remixes like Smooth Touch - House Of Love(Hyperactive mix), Plez - Can't Stop (Have Mercy Remix), Earth People - Dance(Edit Mix), Afterhours - Feel It (Egotrip Mix), A Funki Dredd - Total Confusion (Heavenly Mix) & DJ Amo's First Solo Single DJ Amo - Dance of Pride became Big Hits. Amo have Spin with some of the top DJ's of today. At the time believe it or not Amo was the head liner for some of these DJ's. Just to drop some names of people Amo use to DJ with Roger.S now Roger Sanchez which DJ Amo used to watch close so he can learn how to Use 3 Turntables like he did. Kid Capri, Funk Master Flex DJ Amo use to DJ with these 2 DJ’s alot. To the point that people thought he was from the same camp. DJ Enuff, Ron G, Bounce Master Doo Wop, Tony Touch, Stretch Armstrong, Bobby Konders Massive B, DJ Basil, DJ Disciple, Lil Louie Vega, and Roman Ricardo which is the one that got me my first spot at Roseland and Ego trip. Anthony Acid, Kenny Dope, Junior Vasquez, Freddy Bastone, Acid Al, Moby, Kool DJ Red Alert and the list can go on for ever. House music Started to die in the NYC Club Scene with the raise of ONYX, Das Efx and Cypress Hills crowds no longer wanted to hear house music at the clubs. so DJ Amo went back to spinnin only hip hop. Which might have been one of the worst thing to do at the time. because Amo started to only attract A Hardcore Thug Crowd and Clubs Started to get Scared to book DJ Amo cause of fear of Fights & Shoot outs. It never failed ever time Amo start rocking the crowd getting them all hype with his chants and crowd motivation a fight will break out. People in NYC started a saying. DJ AMO is the reason why Clubs Started the whole Dress code thing and the whole $30 at the door price. I remember a time DJ Amo & Funk Master Flex was djing The Cat Club and there was A Big Shooting in the Club That Left 6 dead and 12 Wounded. That was the start of DJ Amo's Down fall in the 90's club Scene.
At the age of 23 DJ Amo stop DJing and became a full time Recording Engineer and Producer. For the last 10 yrs DJ Amo have produced beats and remixed songs for some of the top Hip Hop and House music Artist in the music industry. Releasing 2 house EP’s The House of Styles ep sold just under 300,000. Teaming up with Sweet Stew releasing singles and remixes from time to time on various record labels
At the age of 28 Amo moved to Florida. Taking a break from DJing and producing to become A Family man so he can spend time with his wife and kids and raise them in a better area. Amo started missing producing beats and DJing at the clubs. So Amo then started to make mixtapes and getting local record shops and Flea Market Venders to sell them. The mixtapes became an instant hit. People in Florida never heard a DJ use dirty south hip hop beats on reggaeton music sometimes going thru a crate on one mixtape. Stores started asking for more because they sold out in a matter of days. The mixtape became so popular that people started asking the Record shops if they had the new DJ Amo mixtape or if DJ Amo have a new mixtape coming. having contacts with alot of the hip hop artist in the music industry. Amo then started to ask people to drop freestyles or host the mixtapes. the mixtapes began to out sell everyones mixtapes. Amo started becoming one of the hottest DJ’s in Florida and earning the name of The Mixtape Assassin. A name that was given and earn by the fans for his Skillful Blends & Exclusive freestyles. in 2004 and 2005 DJ Amo was Nominated for a mixtape award. even thou he didn't get the awards it felt good to be part of the DJing & Mixtape industry again.
At the age of 32 DJ Amo Hooked up with AV8 Records & Club Bangaz Records and started to produce Party Breaks and Blend records.even thou it is not the type of labels Amo was used to. it gave him the time he wanted to be able to DJ, Produce and still be a Family Man. Now DJ Amo is always touring the world doing guess DJ spots around the world.
