About Me

Born August 19 in Bogota Colombia, Monica moved to Barranquilla Colombia where she grew up and was exposed at a very young age to music. Monica knew she had to be a part of the music world at the young age of five. She started out by playing/learning piano at local private Conservatory’s. From classical to latin to pop and many genre’s, her piano skills were perfecting more everyday. She grew up listening to many different types of music and became more interested in the music industry. She started learning guitar at the age of 13 and drums at 15. She would read books and investigate about the music industry and became very intrigued by the business and production part. She started producing at the young age of 15. Her parents bought her equipment to experiment with and she started creating her own music. She was always fascinated with the idea of recording bands/artists and working with them personally on records. She finally decided when she graduates from high school she would go to college and study Music Production & Engineering/Music Business Management. She moved twice around Latin America. From Colombia she went to Monterrey, Mexico and currently lives in Guatemala City. She has taken more than 10 online classes with Berklee College of Music and has attended the college many times for summer programs. Monica graduated in Guatemala City in the year 06 and moved to L.A where she started at Marymount College. Marymount College was a nice experience but she noticed she wanted to start studying at a Music College right away. She then attended Berklee College of Music for three months and noticed the college was not for her. Although it was an amazing experience and knows that Berklee will always be the best for Music she went back to Guatemala City. Monica has always been addicted to Electronic music, so she came up with the amazing idea of becoming a DJ. She had already made a couple of songs, but she thought a great idea was to become a DJ/Producer. She started out by spinning Progressive/Trance tracks. One of her first experiences was working with DJ Ricardo Salazar in Barranquilla, Colombia, he offered her various gigs in the city. She played along side him at Villa Country for the first time, and he also had her Open up for Carlos Illera at The Underground Club. She now has many Guatemala DJ friends who support her and help her out now that she wanted to become a successful DJ in Guatemala and internationally. DJ Juan Batista aka BEBOP who is currently signed with ARMADA MUSIC has helped her tremendously in her career as a DJ. They soon opened up a promoter company in Guatemala City. Their first event "LOVE INVADERS" took place on Friday April 18, 2008 at PLAYZONE. They are looking forward to working together to enchange in an incredible partnership together. Monica Farr has spinned at many clubs in Guatemala and Colombia. She has shared decks with Santiago Nino, Bebop, Alex Hentze, Alejandro Rivera, Ivan Garzzai, Cesar Echeverria, Gabriel Cazali, Ricardo Salazar, Carl Nunes and many more well known & successful DJ's in Latin America. She is currently working on a few projects and hopefully will have the honor to work with her friends on a few projects too. She is currently attending MCNALLY SMITH COLLEGE OF MUSIC in St.Paul, Minnesota double majoring in Music Production & Music Business and enjoying it! Hopefully she will be spinning at clubs in Minneapolis/St.Paul soon! College, DJ-ing & producing is her priority right now. So check back and see what is currently going on in her life.
