ALMOST HUMANStarted way back in the late 70s' as a bunch of kids with similar musical interests. After meeting at high school and simply through hanging out, they guys started to get together swapping ideas, learing and more importantly partying. Like so many other bands at that time, ALMOST HUMAN were trying to emulate the bands that they were growing up with such as Kiss, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, AC/DC & Status Quo.After an initial line-up shuffle that included a few extra members, they began playing a few small gigs and parties The Humans started writing original songs in the same vein as the bands that they admired and had grown up with.It was apparant even in the early days, that there was something special about Almost Human. The band seemed to have some raw talent that was unlike anything else in Adelaide at that time. The guys ware constantly learning and improving their style and although the line-up has changed many times over the years, the group has essentially remained the same.In the early eighties, British Heavy Metal hit Australia and Almost Human immediatly found it's place. The line-up at this point in time consisted of Damien Kelly, Luis Sanchez, Chris Tucker, Dave Kennedy and Chris Tennant.By this time the band was starting to draw large crowds. The Australian pub rock scene was booming and like many Australian rock bands before them, the pub circuit was where they honed their skills. Almost Human played and toured extensively supporting international acts such as Cheap Trick, Sweet and Whitesnake. However in the late eighties, guitarist, Chris Tennant resigned. Instrumental as a songwriter, Tennant went on to form the band SuperJesus with Sarah Mcleod. It didnt take long before a new guitarist was found and the band surged forward again, writing, performing and releasing the song 'Hold On' which charted for over 28 weeks. Hold On recieved regular airplay on both commercial television and radio stations. It also showed that the band could continue writing and were capable of crossing over from the heavier live shows to music that was a bit more mainstream. However, in 1993 after playing hundreds of shows and having been together for over 14 years, the band called it a day. They played their final show at The Venue, Adelaide SA to a full house.Another 14 years have passed and Almost Human is back. Picking up from where they left off. This time they are doing things their way. This new line-up of Almost Human sees new member, Adam Keane (Ex- Master of Puppets) on guitar and the original drummer Chris Tucker back on the skins. Each member brings a new set of skills to the table that allows the band to operate autonomously in the areas of songwriting, recording, design and marketing.Although they have a repetoir of over 50 original songs, the primary focus has been to write new material. Almost Human has already written over 10 new songs and are currently working on their first ever record. The band has been extremely fortunate to have seen the return of their fanbase plus many new faces which shows that their popularity is still as strong as ever. The current line-up consists of:Damien Kelly - Vocals.Dave Kennedy - Solo Guitar.Adam Keane - Guitars.Luis Sanchez - Bass Guitar.Chris Tucker - Drums.ALMOST HUMAN is back!
