AMERICAN girls have been reduced to emotionless sexual objects by a population which has allowed the Girls Gone Wild, Spike TV, Ultimate Fighting, TMZ culture set the standard of masculinity verses femininity. The result is a model for which men must always be ready to throw down and girls must sit quietly by looking pretty.
This mentality is being filtered down to young kids around the country: for females it equates to sexually active junior high girls in a world where you can go in to any department store and buy a thong for your ten year old; and for boys the result is a mesh of school violence and parking lot brawls posted on YOUTUBE.
IN today’s culture, referring to women as “sluts” or “whores” generates little or no reaction from the general public. It is now acceptable to lie to women for sex, as it has become something to laugh about in the locker room. Not only has this “boys will be boys” behavior become trivial, but it is actually rewarded; as treating women this way has paid off for millions of men and boys looking to use women only for their own personal needs.
The men of today must treat all women as they would the ones in their own family, and women must stop rewarding men who act this way. We are killing our younger sisters who are at home right now and look up to us. And the example we have set for young boys is putrid. Commitment between a boyfriend and girlfriend, or a husband and wife means nothing these days. The generation before us set this example as we are the products of cheating, lying, and divorce. We are being taught that you can throw someone away once you are bored with them, and this must end. We need to correct the mistakes of our parents and set the tone for the next generation.
WE live in a country in which we are allowed to participate in the political process; yet we have instead allowed ourselves to be distracted by drugs and alcohol, while a few rich people make decisions which effect our lives. We spend billions of our hard earned dollars on an alcohol industry which has made a fortune from a product which has ripped apart families and lives. And likewise, transactions involving illegal substances have built an industry with the monopoly on ripping apart neighborhoods. The end result is division.
We allow our selves to be divided; we are divided by what color we are, what part of town we live in, what gang we belong to, or what school we go to. These petty divisions ensure that the public will never unite to get involved with politics and make a change for the better.
NOT only are we divided by trivial boundries, but we overtly build visible walls around us instead of solving problems. We react out of fear instead of trying to mend old wounds.
Instead of mobilizing and confronting the massacre which takes place as a result of school violence and shopping mall shootings; we have installed metal detectors and cameras in every corner of public life, stripping away our privacy, but never really confronting the actual problem of why this happens.
It is time for us to get straight, and start taking control of our lives. We must stop letting drugs, alcohol, and violence control our lives and dictate our path. Teach the youth, and come to terms with the fact that you are setting an example. Parents can not be with their kids 24 hours a day. Parents work, and kids are at school with other kids who are learning from other people.
Use your mind. The pen is mightier than the sword.
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
