When the cosmos were being created by the eldest goddess, Lunera she instilled in five of her most hideous creations the gifts of music. Despite their deformed features the beasts could create powerful melodies and thundering rythms with unspeakable speed, precision and feeling. The music they crafted was so beautiful the stars wept and created the planets.
The laws of inertia exist as a physical manifestation of the power of the music that created the world. The laws themselves were quite literally created and named ater the greatest group of musical beings that ever existed Inertia.
