About Me

Siggy is an independent rock band from Los Angeles, California.
We play raw, passionate music in the vein of Television, The Velvet Underground and The White Stripes. The Absinthe Effect was recorded in collaboration with producer Dave Trumfio (American Music Club, Wilco, Jesus and Mary Chain). “Siggy is Bowie with a set of balls,” Trumfio muttered during a 12-hour mixing session. With its existential themes, sweeping melodies, dynamic rhythm and intermittent cello accompaniment, Absinthe is our most polished yet vital release to date. A new review of The Absinthe Effect appeared today November 11, 2008. AudioXposure .
The Absinthe Effect was released in May to an energetic house at The EchoPlex at a show featuring Earlimart and Light FM. You can read about it here Losanjealous and here from West Coast Performer . Siggy does music for the shear pleasure of the experience and this was a hell of an experience.
While music is an increasing focus for Siggy, we live nuanced, disparate lives. Within this four-piece you’ll find eight master’s degrees, three PhD’s and an absurd number of scholarly publications. We attack our day jobs as fervently as our music: Siggy is comprised of a neuropsychologist, an expert on marginalized youth, a behavioral scientist/Internet matching guru, and an analytic psychotherapist. Lead singer Galen Buckwalter, physically disabled since 16, stars in the award-winning PBS documentary Rolling, aggressively taking on the medical establishment in venues such as the New England Journal and NPR.
Our first music video is also available on YouTube (click above). Freud’s couch and rock and roll meet up with a brilliant young Director, Leah McKissock and the result will perplex shrinks for decades to come.
And what's next? Rumors are starting to float around about a 2009 tour of Barstow. Whatever it is it will certainly include the sacred tradition of Friday night rehearsals and things we have never done before.
