While holding auditions for their new Nashville Band, Melva Lee met her current husband Stephan Marsh, one of Nashville's best Lead guitar players.
Raised on country music and southern gospel Melva Lee holds true to her roots, delivering soulful country ballads and catchy dance hall music. While singing together as a duo, Melva Lee and Melany's vocals are so synchronistic audiences often cannot distinguish which one of the duo is singing the lead vocals, and even they themselves have difficulty recognizing the difference on live recordings. Influenced greatly by Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and Billie Holiday, they bring a quality of soul to a very traditional country music. With Melany's departure from the duo in early 2006 to return to school, Melva Lee once again a solo artist, has made a successful entry into the Nashville Live Music Scene, continuing to record new material, co-writing her own songs, and keeping a full schedule with her band, playing in many venues in Nashville, Madison, Cool Springs and Lebanon. This spring she's in the studio working on her new album. It will include 8 brand new songs she has co-written with husband and lead guitar player Stephan Marsh. Also on the upcoming album project are two duets, with Texas Artist Tommy Allen, "Too Used To Me," and "Don't Feel Sorry For Me," which is the story of an injured US military veteran. One of duet partner Allen's strongest writing accomplishments, the track is scheduled for an APRIL 2008 release. The song will be released on Vanqero Records with Bill Wence Promotions on Radio Promotion. It will also be included on both Tommy Allen's upcoming Boxed Set, and Melva Lee's upcoming album. Her son, John Michael, 19, is a an accomplished drummer, having picked up his drumsticks at 5. He often sits in with Melva Lee and her band, although Johnny is a rockin' "rock" drummer, into current rock music, and metal. He has also written numerous songs, one of which Melva Lee will include in her album, called "Oak Street." Johnny will be playing both the drum and acoustic guitar tracks on the song and it will be their first time in the studio together and will no doubt be a great experience. Johnny recently returned from "The Musician's Institute" in Hollywood, CA, and is hot from the time he spent with some of the world's greatest rock musicians !
