SLIVERS

Gli SLIVERS nascono all’ombra della cattedrale di Riozzo, mitica terra ai confini della nebbiosa provincia di Lodi, nel lontano 2003, quando, poco più che adolescenti, Sergio Millesi alla chitarra, Paolo Bernocchi al basso, Luca Baldrighi alla batteria e Marco Morandi alla tastiera decidono di fondare una cover band ispirata a Bon Jovi; la mancanza del cantante impone in un primo tempo l’esecuzione solo strumentale delle canzoni del biondo autore del New Jersey, quindi, con l’uscita di Marco Morandi e l’arrivo di Marco Omenetto, dapprima secondo chitarrista e poi anche voce del gruppo, la band comincia fieramente a esibirsi in pubblico.

Fra la fine del 2004 e l’inizio del 2005, Marco“Ome”, per seguire la dura carriera nella milizia della Vita stessa, esce dalla band, dove rimangono soltanto Sergio, Luca e Paolo: in attesa di una nuova voce, Sergio comincia a interpretare anche il ruolo di cantante e la band specializza il repertorio sulle note di Bon Jovi, Deep Purple, Animals, Rush. Gli SLIVERS partecipano poi nel 2007 al concorso per band “Musica Giovane”, celebre torneo all’ultimo sangue per cavalieri del rock indetto dalla diocesi di Lodi, dove giungon sino alle semifinali, battuti dai rivali con uno scarto di soli 0,3 punti per carenza di presenza scenica, malgrado l’elevata tecnica esibita.

Nel giugno dello stesso anno, Sergio e Luca, affranti per la sconfitta subita e in cerca di un vero cantante glam-rock, trovano ristoro sulle acque del lago Idroscalo, dove, assistendo all’epifania del tramonto degli Dei al Gods of Metal 2007, incontrano l’angelo Metatron, noto col nome mortale di Giovanni Dragoni, in arte Johnny Heart, creatura celeste che in un tempo remoto, dopo aver militato in numerose competizioni canore di livello regionale ed aver sconfitto nel Lodigiano il drago Tarantasio, ricevendone in dono un flauto forgiato col metallo di Excalibur, segue come discepolo il Maestro Josh Zighetti, che lo battezza nel segno del rock sulle sponde del fiume Adda. La band può allora tornare a dedicarsi pienamente all’esecuzione di pezzi glam-rock, suonando alla corte di Artù, Atlantide, e di Asgard.

Il 29 settembre segna il ritorno come chitarrista e seconda voce di Marco “Ome”, ormai investito cavaliere del metal dalla Vita stessa, e l’ingresso nel gruppo di Giuseppe Perna, giovane costruttore di Hammond alle fucine di Efesto sul monte Etna. Inizia così un ciclo di performance rock-metal in locali e pub della provincia di Lodi e Milano.

BIOGRAPHY

SLIVERS was formed in 2003 in the gloomy atmosphere of Riozzo, a foggy city near Lodi, when the leader and the main guitarist Sergio Millesi began rehearsing with Luca Baldrighi (drums and percussions), Paolo Bernocchi (bass) and Marco Morandi (keyboards). They formed the band with the aim of covering Bon Jovi’s greatest hits, even if the lack of a lead singer forced ’em to play only instrumental versions of the hit singles written by the band of New Jersey. Later on Marco Morandi left the band and vocalist/guitarist Marco Omenetto joined the bad boys of Riozzo: with this line-up, SLIVERS started playin’ in front of headbangers and metal maniacs.

At the end of 2004 Marco “Ome” left the band due to personal problems and Slivers could only lean on Sergio, Luca and Paolo. Waitin’ for a new singer and keepin’ his role of lead guitarist, Sergio also started to scream his ass off for his band that now plays cover versions of hits of bands like Bon Jovi, Deep Purple, Animals and Rush. In 2007 SLIVERS took part in a competition for young bands called “Musica Giovane” but they were defeated due to a lack of attitude, even if they showed their technical skills.

In the days of the Italian festival called “gods of metal” (June 2007), during the exhibitions of Motley Crue, Scorpions, White Lion and Tigertailz, Sergio and Luca met Giovanni Dragoni. Known as Johnny Heart, Giovanni is everything SLIVERS was lookin’ for: he’s a glam metal lead singer with long hair, make up, stylish clothing (chiefly consisting of tight denim or leather jeans, leather and headbands). Often referin’ to himself as “the bitch of rock and roll”, Johnny Heart changed the route of SLIVERS, taking out the beast in it and making the band a rock’n’roll monster based around power chords, shred guitar solos, catchy melodies with an anthemic choruses, hard hitting drumming and complementary bass. Taking the stage to perform their thunderous hair metal covers, SLIVERS became infamous for their pyrotechnical live shows and the debauched lifestyle of the lead singer.

On september 29, Marco “Ome” rejoined the band as guitar player and guest singer and a new member, Giuseppe Perna, stepped into the group on the keyboards. The new line-up of SLIVERS can now kick the hell outta rock and metal club near Lodi and Milan, settin’ the scale for decadent rock and roll behavior.
