Fivepastfive are a fun, upbeat acoustic pop punk band from the suburbs of Manchester that carry a driving, yet thoughtful and melancholic sound filled with rich melodies and foot-tapping tempos.
The band draws their influences from such bands as Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, Panic! At The Disco and Reel Big Fish, giving the band their instantly recognisable Pop-Punk sound.
Fivepastfive began as a mere side-project in 2004 to keep Ben Townley and Chris Lea busy while the rest of their current band (The Alibi) were away at university. As the band slowly dwindled away due to commitments, the duo teamed up with Dale Penlington on drums, who had just departed his current band at the time. Now a trio, Fivepastfive began playing more and more gigs round the Manchester area, slowly, but surely increasing their profile. A year later, the band go into a local studio to record their first EP. Upon hearing the final masters, they felt it was time to recruit a bassist in order to ’fill out the band’s sound’. Two months later, Fivepastfive became a quartet with bassist Joe Beswick.
Since being together, the band have recorded two EPs and have gigged heavily around the Manchester area. A couple of the band’s highlights have been winning £1,000 at a battle of the bands competition, plus being featured on the well-established internet station ‘Pulse-Rated’.
The band are currently promoting their second EP, ‘Bigger! Than! Godzilla!’ available at the band's online shop.....
