About Me

Steve Sxaks
After playing in an arsenal of bands, recording enough music to compete with Prince, and playing hundreds of shows, Steve Sxaks has secured his spot in Philadelphia Punk Rock history.
Sxaks – This is the band that started it all. Sxaks played a ridiculous amount of shows with some pretty respectable bands. After recording an album for Slot-1 Records, and constant line up changes, Sxaks called it quits. Sxaks was formally known as Narcotics Division, MPH, Paste, and many more, but after several recordings, and shows, Sxaks became the decided band name.
Steve Sxaks – After Sxaks ended, Steve decided to record some old sxaks songs acoustically, and write a few new songs. Steve Sxaks played a couple shows with the backing band “the dingle berries” under the name “Steve Sxaks and the Dingle Berries”, and a couple solo shows, with no backing band.
Rainbow Troopers – Rainbow Troopers featured members of Sxaks. After recording a demo featuring “Hardcore Elevator Music”, the members of Rainbow Troopers, went on to better things.
Lipitor – After recording a 3 song demo, and playing only one show Lipitor disbanded for personal reasons. During this time, Steve Sxaks was doing another band Called C+M, which never recorded or played live.
Amerikkkan Holoco$t – Amerikkkan Holoco$t (more commonly known as AHC) was formed with Members of Lipitor, and C+M. AHC played several shows with its original line up of Steve Sxaks, Lauren Kahmar, and Aaron Dingle Berry. After recording a couple demos, the line up dramatically changed when both Aaron, and Lauren, left the band. After about a year of Hiatus, Steve Sxaks reformed the band and began playing shows again. The New AHC line up Recorded a Successful album “denying the fact that we are all doomed”, a demo called “Brutality”, and a session with Ben from Chainsaw to the face. AHC won an Emergenza battle of the bands in 2005, and played a few scattered shows through out the years. Currently AHC is on hiatus, but an 81 song discography is expected to be released. Recently a live AHC demo with the original line up has been found. It contained songs that were thought to have never been recorded.
HUG – Hug was a vegan rock band, taking after ZZ Top. All songs recorded by hug were completely improvised on the spot. All recordings were also recorded Live on an analogue tape.
Factory lines – Factory Lines was a solo recording project, sponsored by Abington Initiative model.
Gorezilla – Gorezilla was a straight edge thrash hardcore band that dominated the Philadelphia scene for about a year. After playing many shows with bands like, Resistant Culture, Mouth Sewn Shut, and putting out a split with Exit wound, Gorezilla disbanded due to personal reasons. After a few months of hiatus, 3 of the original members of Gorezilla reformed with a new vocalist, and rhythm guitarist. With this line up Gorezilla recorded some of its best material as a live demo, which will most likely never be released.
ExDxS – ExDxS was the cause of gorezilla’s demise. Desperately trying to continue a straight edge, skate, thrash band, Steve Sxaks recruited members locally to record a demo, and play a couple shows. The demo included Morgan from XboganX, on guest vocals.
Pion – Pion was a recording project that lasted about a year and a half. 4 albums worth of music were recorded, and are yet to be released. Pion was a very experimental, poetic, yet chaotic project.
Papa Bear – Papa Bear started as a joke but became much more. Critically acclaimed as being one of the best live acoustic bands around, Papa bear was an acoustic, desperado, folk-punk band. Some Papa Bear songs were sung in Spanish, and some English love songs. Papa Bear recorded 1 album “How The West Was Won”, and a Live DVD. Papa Bear still occasionally plays shows.
Eggnostic – Eggnostic was a drum and bass side project influenced by God Stomper, Lightning bolt, and Hella. After only playing a few shows, Eggnostic joined the inactive bands list, when Jordan Miller joined Fruit Punch.
SAB + No Lie – SAB + No Lie, forged their very own brand of political yet comedic gangster rap. Played several shows at House of Gore, with a couple respectable bands (agents of change, Trike, and more), and recorded an albums worth of songs, cover topics of Straight edge, colonics, riding bikes, skate boarding, and more. SAB featured on many Pion songs. All SAB + No Lie music was completely hand made, and had little to no effort put into it.
Shredding Polka Enthusiast – SPE is known across Pennsylvania for being one of the most ridiculous live bands around. SPE was often criticized for the singer’s reckless behavior, and little regard to public safety and property. SPE was known for its raw and original sound, and dry sense of humor. SPE recorded about 5 minutes worth of music. SPE occasionally still plays shows, when ever all the original members are together.
Fruit Punch – Fruit Punch initially started off as a queercore band, in the vein of Limpwrist, and Warpath, but became much more.
Already having a slew of shows under the Fruit Punch belt, and recording and album on Queer Control Records, Fruit Punch has made a huge mark in the punk scene.
Disciples Of Apocalypse – A heavy metal thrash band that could never really get off the ground. A few shows were booked, but all were canceled. A crude 2 song demo was recorded on a 4 track, but will never be released. After constant line up changes, the band went on hiatus.
Jam Band Hardcore – JBH all started as a way to piss off new age hardcore kids. It was heavy, it was loud, it was angry, and it was break downs! Jam band recorded one awesome DVD, played a show, and disbanded. JBH featured members of Disciples Of Apocalypse.
Kunt Punch – A previously established Gore Grind band, with the sole purpose of offending people as much as possible. Steve Sxaks took over on drums after Big Bob from DOA asked him to fill in. Current Kunt Punch is on hiatus.
Common Enemy – Steve Sxaks saw that Common Enemy was looking for a new vocalist, and decided to tryout after filling in for them at a show in Warrington, PA. Steve recorded a 3 song tryout session with Common Enemy which is to be released on a 7 inch in the near future. Currently Common Enemy and Fruit Punch are looking into doing a Split 7 inch.
AABottom – AAB is what you get when you try to cross ZZ Top, Infest, Lifetime, and the blues. AAB is a jumbled mess of white nerdy blues, which might touch your soul, if you’re a nerdy white person, who likes star wars and rock and roll.
The Jerg Ovs – In the vein of JFA and the Germs, the Jerg Ovs formed their own brand of fast, sloppy punk rock. Although Steve Sxaks was not the original drummer of the Jerg Ovs, is an active band in the Abington punk rock scene.
XboganX – Bogan, a female fronted punk rock band, with the sole purpose of bringing back the 90s Riot Grrrl movement. Heavily influenced by Bikini kill, L7, The Luna Chicks, and a lot of 80s hardcore.
Steve Sxaks is currently involved in many projects that still play shows today.
