About Me

"Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from here and make a brand new ending."

So many memories and so many miles the road that stretches behind us; We've had some laughter and our share of tears But all these moments unite us.

I'll be your friend for a lifetime, Against the wind and the rain of every season; Won't walk away in the hard times. I will be your friend; I'm saying I will be your friend.

Sure as the river runs to the sea; High as the mountain that reaches; You were there by my side till the end and helped me on my feet again.

I'll be your friend for a lifetime. Against the wind and the rain of every season; Won't walk away in the hard times. I will be your friend; I'm saying I will be your friend.

So in the valley walk on, Don't have to face it alone. Cause in the hard times We keep growing strong. As we learn, as we live, That we live when we give.

I'll be your friend for a lifetime; Against the wind and the rain of every season. Won't walk away in the hard times. I will be your friend; I'm saying I will be your friend. ~MWS

I have a Balinese (silky Siamese) cat named Sophie. She's the most devoted cat ever! She is also the lickyest cat I've ever owned and bathes me til I'm covered in cat spit!
I also have a blonde Lab named Biskit and a puppy named Marley. Biskit was hit by a car and from the surgery now has one leg shorter than the other and I, teasingly, call him "Limp Biskit." Although Marley is a girl, she is named after Bob Marley.

My favorite colors are pink and black. White roses and pink Calla Lilies are my favorite flowers. My favorite Starbuck's coffee is White Chocolate Mocha. My favorite foods are BBQ shrimp and Mexican anything.

I have a preference for eyes that sparkle which are accompanied by a smile! A sense of humor is always appreciated.

My dream vacation would be to visit Scotland. I love history and learning about "old places" in particular. I've also been known to explore old cemeteries. The epitaphs on the ancient headstones gives a small glimpse into a past that intrigues me.

For once in my life I'm not married, nor in a relationship, and I’ve found that this has given me the opportunity to explore and learn things on my own, in my own time. I must say it’s been a time of discovery for me. I am much more comfortable with my “single” status than I have been in the past. Perhaps it is a sign of maturity on my part; or at least realizing that I am not dependent on someone else to make me happy. I will continue to enjoy life, with all of it’s promises and possibilities, regardless of whether I have a significant someone in my life...or not. I am a true romantic at heart, and I hope to find someone with whom to share this adventure called “life” with. I am not going to be any man's plaything, woman on a string, or ONE woman in a string of women. I'm not going to settle for less than the "real" thing. I've got these kids and I have a good life that I enjoy to the fullest. The desire of my heart is to have a man who will complete my family, be a positive role model (better than their sperm donor) for my kids; someone who will be my best friend, lover, and the strong shoulder to cry on if needed. If that should never occur, I am at peace knowing I am not in a turbulent, does he/doesn't he, going-nowhere relationship. I am happy knowing that I have left a significant mark in the lives of people that I love and that's really what life's all about...being there for the people you love and who love you in return.

I enjoy traveling to new places and seeing new things. I have been places this year I'd never thought to visit, and enjoyed every minute of it. At the end of the journey, though, I like coming home. A house isn’t a home...a house is just where I put my stuff. “Home” isn't confined to four walls and a rooftop. "Home" is where those whom I love happen to be. My Mom is, perhaps, one of the most courageous women I've ever known. My sister is my best friend, and my brother...well, he's my brother, and I love him even though we are apples and oranges. When we're all together it's kinda like a Three Stooges Reunion!

I'm so NOT the Drama Queen! I tend to be accommodating to a fault simply because it is only about the IMPORTANT things that go against my conscience or convictions that I would argue. I refuse to argue over stupid, insignificant topics such as: which restaurant to go to, what movie to see, etc. I am a very open-minded person when it comes to a persons race, gender, sexual orientation, and I have close friends that are dear to me whom some would "label" in an unfavorable manner. Hating someone because of their race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation is not conducive to changing anybody. Being judgmental is not in my Job Description, and I personally find that people who are different from me enrich my life more often than not. Wouldn't the world be a boring place if we were all "cookie-cutter" people? There's an old dcTalk song, entitled Colored People and when you get down to it, we're all "colored"...some are just more vibrant than others, and some are darker hued. As one of my heroes once stated, "...judge a man, not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character." ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

I love to sing, though I wouldn't say it's a "talent" of mine, or that I'm particularly gifted when it comes to voice. My favorite place to sing is, of course, in the shower or bathtub, followed by cranking the music up loud when I vacuum and clean house! It makes the dreaded task so much easier and a lot more fun! Don't believe me? Try dancing with your vacuum cleaner next time! It works! :D

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'm told that I am a lethal combination of intelligence and beauty. I have also been told that I'm geeky, nerdy, odd, whimsical, affectionate, kind, generous, dependable, and friendly. I have a quirky sense of humor that only those who are close to me ever see. I am a deep person; I don't do shallow and I don't play games. I'm honest, sincere, and straightforward. I admit when I'm wrong and I am usually the first to apologize. I love big hugs and deep kisses. I'm a PDA junkie and I love touching people who are special to me.

I'm an avid reader and I stay informed on current and political issues. I love intelligent conversation and will debate any issue given the opportunity. Intelligent conversation is like making love to my mind. I am a John-Tesh-Intelligence-For-Your-Life junkie and can spout random, quirky factoids that liven up the dullest convo! I volunteer simply because I enjoy it; whether it involves food drives, singing at the nursing home, or sewing for the ballet.

Everyone has a comfort zone: a physical place or a state of mind. To some it is wealth, their 401(k) retirement; to some it is power, or the illusion of security that those offer. To others it is their religion; their dogma that they live, and sometimes, die for. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking religion as a tenet for the "weak-minded," socially unacceptable zealots. Neither do I believe that we all "believe" in the same God, we just believe in other ways to "get there." I have read the "books" of, and studied, the many religions of the world, and all have a common goal: that of mankind seeking/working to gain a better existence than what we now have on earth. The exception being Christianity. It is only through Christianity that the "better place" is offered to us free of charge, and there isn't anything we can do to earn it. It is a faith issue, a belief in something that cannot be seen, but only known through the heart.

"Faith does not grow in the house of certainty." ~William P. Young, The Shack.

I look at it this way: if the Atheists are correct and there is no God, or if the Pagans are correct and the Creation is god or many gods, or if Agnostics are correct and the metaphysical, spiritual things in life cannot be proven, and therefore shouldn't be believed, then when I die, I'll just return to organic matter (compost basically) to nourish other living things. I can at least say I've lived a full life, one where the weft and weave of my belief has produced a better fabric for society as a whole. If, on the other hand, Christianity is THE ONLY gift offered to all, accepted by few, and you die, never having accepted the gift, you're screwed! Sux to be you!

Seeing the forces of darkness (global economic failure, terrorism, rogue nations like Iran & N. Korea flexing their nuclear muscles, Russia becoming a superpower again due to their oil resources, flexing their military muscles in Georgia...what's next? Russia invading the Ukraine? the US?) at work, trying to gain the upper hand, there is comfort in knowing that there is an Upper Hand, a Final Authority, and although the final chapter has been written, the story isn't over yet. Does anyone else hear the proverbial fat lady singing?

You Have Very Healthy Relationships
You are an amazing friend, partner, and family member.
You always take other people's feelings into account, and you're never selfish.

Your relationships are based on mutual respect.
You respect the people you love, and you only love people who respect you in return. Do You Have Healthy Relationships?

Who I'd like to meet? I've already met some really cool people: Mac Powell and the guys in Third Day, Toby Mac and Michael Tait of dcTalk, Jason Roy of Bldg 429, Will and Tim from Travel the Road, Terry Bowden and Tommy Tuberville (both former AU coaches), Wayne Dickens #96 AU defensive tackle (the first who sacked Brodie in the 2005 Iron Bowl), Zac Brown & Jimmy DeMartini (awesome fiddle player) of the Zac Brown Band, Tommy Tillman of Embracing the Untouchables, and some of the original Tuskeegee Airmen to name a few.

However, on a more personal level, I suppose the list could be longer, but I'll just keep it simple for now. :) Someone who is REAL. If I were to enumerate the “must haves” in a relationship, they would deal more with character and personality than with whether or not he’s handsome or good looking. Honesty, respect, and trustworthiness are non-negotiable. I prefer the truth, straight up, no chaser! I may not like the truth, but the truth is much easier to deal with than deception on any day of the year. The road to integrity is always "Under Construction" and those who take detours can "keep on truckin'" as far as I'm concerned.

"Falsehood has an infinity of combinations, but truth has only one mode of being." ~Jean Jacques Rousseau.

"Lies are like a little fortress: inside them you feel safe and powerful. Through your little fortress of lies you try to run your life and manipulate others. But the fortress needs walls, so you build some. These are the justifications for your lies; whatever works, just so you feel ok about the lies. Life is real enough without having to be obscured by lies." ~excerpt from The Shack by William P. Young.

You Are 94% Real
There's hardly a person on this earth more real than you are.
You have no problem showing people who you are, flaws and all.
For you, there couldn't be any other way. Because it's way too stressful to live an inauthentic life.
You're very comfortable with yourself. And because of this, you're able to live an exciting, interesting, and challenging life. How Real Are You?

I'm a Mazda Miata!

You like to soak up the sun, but your tastes are down to earth. Everyone thinks you're cute. Life is a winding road, and you like to take the curves in stride. Let other people compete in the rat race - you're just here to enjoy the ride.

What I do NOT want is someone who is into the impersonal Virtual Reality MySpace Relationships. I appreciate and like people who are what they are and they make no excuses for it. That kind of person tends to be honest and straightforward about themselves, what they want out of life, and what they expect from a friendship, relationship, or otherwise. I hope, someday, to meet a guy who understands that LOVE IS A VERB! An ACTION Verb at that! I'll take a VERB over a NOUN any day of the week! :p

I want to be the filet mignon from a 5 star, classy restaurant but I live in a world where men seem to prefer the daily buffet from the sleaziest establishment in town!

True love never forces; love that is forced is no love at all.

~Emotions are the colors of the soul; spectacular and incredible. When you don't feel, the world becomes dull and colorless; the spectrum of your life reduced to the monotones of flat grays and blacks.~
