About Me

Hi! I'm Paul. I was born in a coal mining town in Wales.I paint in oils. See my oil paintings here

My Interests

Oil Painting, I like to paint and also go to museums and see the work of the old masters. I can't list every painter I like but I have to mention Rembrandt, Vermeer, Ingres, Ter Borch, Van Dyck and Caravaggio. There's many more but you get the idea.A few things that bother me are people shooting each other all the time... so you can say I'm NOT a fan of handguns. Another issue is the healthcare system and the millions who do not have healthcare which bothers me greatly.I'm a massive fan of the US Soccer Team, Soccer, I like visiting New York City!!!!!

I'd like to meet:

I'm mainly here to show my Fine Art website! Thanks for looking at my artwork!

Music:

Music is not my main ineterst really but I like: Peter Murphy and his band Bauhaus. The Shroud, The Sisters of Mercy, Die Laughing and Switchblade Symphony. Some others are Hazel O'Connor, The Stranglers, The Damned, Alucarda and Depeche Mode. My wife loves Nick Cave and I appreciate him too. Some stuff I used to listen to a lot are Lush, Kristin Hersh and Suzanne Vega.

Movies:

Dario Argento's Suspiria. I copied the interior design of the movie in my house and I also have a tattoo with Irises, just like the secret passageway to the Witches in the movie. So you can say I like that movie very much. I also like the Lucio Fulci film The Beyond, The House by the Cemetery and The City of the Living Dead. Breaking Glass, the British film starring Hazel O'Connor is my fave music movie. I also love Ken Loach, Mike Leigh. My Favorite Hal Hartley movies are Trust and The Amateur. The Hunger is another big influence especially as the band Bauhaus is in the night club scene at the beginning. Bowling for Columbine

Television:

The office (British version) Only fools and horses, Minder. Play for Today. Major League Soccer and Us National Soccer Team!

Books:

I'm not a big novel reader. But I do like A Child's Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas. Frankenstein, Dracula and Rosemary's Baby. I mainly read books about trashy horror movies or Oil Painting! I also like some social science especially the work of Mike Davis.

Heroes:

Ken Loach (Film Director) Aneurin Bevan. He was Welsh and he helped implement the British National Health System. No medical bills!Rembrandt van Rijn(For his miraculous painting of light) and Diego Velazquez for painting "Las Meninas". People who do stuff to help other people and expect nothing in return.
