Aviemore Goth weekend is a fledgling event set up by some scottish Whitby Goth Weekend attendees. We aim to give the Scottish Goth fraternity something a bit closer to home.

Aviemore has almost everything a Goth could want: A nightclub, good cocktails, lots of accomodation, a gig/ceilidh venue, reindeer and a railway (as featured in Harry Potter)

So far we have had one small, but sucessful event in July of 2007, involving a takeover of the local 'rock night', and a Goth Ceilidh in the Cairngorm Hotel. 'Strip the Willow' in New Rocks and corsets is a challenge! and thats only the guys!!

Midsummer Masquerade

Announcing the 2nd Annual Aviemore Gothic Weekend! A Midsummer Madness, 20th-22nd June 2008. The main event on the Saturday will be a Midsummer Masquerade Ball, featuring Scottish Goth/Alternative bands, prizes for the best costume/masks, and a raffle in aid of The Maggies Centre in Inverness.

Pubs & Bars

Cafe Mambos - a pretty reasonable bar that does good food during the day, and splendid shots during the night :D

The Old Bridge Inn Dalfaber Rd, Aviemore, Inverness-Shire, PH22 1PU - a warm little pub by the River Spey, also does good food.

The Cairngorm Hotel - excellent food, and a nice bar. http://www.cairngorm.com/

The Vault - Aviemores only real remaining nightclub, pretty small, is based in a former Bank of Scotland Vault.

RD's - other local nightspot, can get quite busy at weekend. General typical DJing music, but can be an ok place.

The Winking Owl - a fave pub to start an evening in, in that its a cosy wee pub you can actually have a conversation in.

MacKenzies - another local pub bought over by a brewery

The Alt-na-Craig - A notable hive of scum and villainy - you know the kinda place, where you get the craggy faced old fart locals (regardless of age) who go there to drink, play darts, drink, play pool, drink, fight etc.

Dalfaber Golf & Country Club – Not bad, big place. Very good food apparently - Bar meals and a restaurant.

La Taverna - Italiany sorta place.
