She’s Kate Bush for a new generation of post-folk epic-pop fans, lining up for a voice to lose themselves in. ‘Portobello Way’ almost has the charms of grandiose death-metal, bands such as Nemo, crossed with Enya or Madonna songs (when she was all dark and broody). It’s hard to pinpoint this unbelievably great talent into a specific genre as her style is so wonderfully off the wall. Her voice is powerful but gorgeous, as epic as much as it is intimate, bowing in the middle to fast-paced chord-shifting choruses that pound pianos and strings beyond the pulls of normality.
