Born on July 17, 1978, Morlon was the fourth of twelve children that blessed the Greenwood family. As a native Jamaican, he spent eleven years in Kingston, Jamaica before migrating to the United States with his family where he received the latter portion of his education. While attending Freeport High School in Long Island, New York, Morlon joined the wrestling team in the 177-lb division during his sophomore year of high school, attaining an impressive beginner’s record of 22 wins and 5 losses. It is without coincidence that the high school’s wrestling coach was also the football coach. Coach Russell Cellan recognized Morlon’s natural athletic talent and convinced him to join the varsity football team, anticipating matching success on the field. Although unfamiliar with “American football”, Morlon caught on quickly to the fundamental of the game: “Wherever the ball is, go get it.” Morlon continued to excel, earning Super Prep All-Northeast recognition, all-county and all-state accolades, lettering in wrestling, track & field, and soccer, and finished his senior year as the wrestling team captain in addition to being Coach Cellan’s first state wrestling champion in the 215-lb weight division. High school success landed Morlon at Syracuse University. A serious student, Morlon adapted almost immediately to college life, balancing football with his studies, as a Health and Exercise Science major. Once again, his accomplishments extended beyond the classroom as he started in all 48 games during his four-year football collegiate career. He was also selected as a second-team Freshman All-America choice by The Sporting News in 1997, a first-team All-Big East pick as a junior, and a first-team All-Big East Conference selection as a senior, and played in both the Blue-Gray game and Senior Bowl. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, Morlon was drafted to play for the Miami Dolphins in 2001. During the summer of his first season with the Dolphins, Morlon a.k.a., Ultimate, recorded his first single, “Blow the Skylines out of Proportion”. Skylines is one of 40 songs written by Morlon, some of which date back to his sophomore year of high school. Skylines was actually written during Morlon’s junior season at Syracuse University. “I was driving home one day from summer workout thinking about what I wanted to do in life. Everybody’s always says the sky is the limit. I say the sky can’t be the limit. You can’t limit yourself.” By the time Morlon stepped out of the car, he had the first few lines of the chorus: “I’m, gonna blow the skylines out of proportion/Want to be the man…I liked the way it sounded so I kept singing it. Before I went home, I made the first verse. I really like this song because it signifies everything I want to do and what I’m about.” Ultimate recorded the song with the guidance of the King of Ska, Derrick Morgan (www.HouseofSka.com) and his son Courtney "Grand Police" Morgan (www.HopRecords.org). Skylines quickly became a team favorite and the unofficial anthem of the 2002 season. Ultimate has since made numerous television appearances that highlighted his musical talents. Jamaica’s newest entertainer gave memorable performances at the Reggae Music Awards, NFL under the Helmet, and Fins TV. Ultimate will release his debut CD album October of 2005 titled ULTIMATE DOMINATION with the first single being Fall Down. The album will be produced by renown producers: Grand Police, Blackout and Drew Lane. “In life, you can do whatever you want to do. You just have to believe and you will achieve.” This honest heart-felt philosophy is what drives Morlon to achieve, and he happily shares this with others in a number of ways. Morlon recognizes the struggles and obstacles that exist in today’s society and believes that it is imperative for us to remain aware of consequential issues that effect the future of our youths. Youngsters need positive role models at every level that can assist them into turning their dreams into realities. We are all teachers and students in Life, always teaching and learning. Morlon believes that in opening the minds of others, he is able to affect their lives as well as the lives of those they teach. His efforts and desires were manifested through the establishment of the Morlon Greenwood Foundation (www.MorlonGreenwoodFoundation.com) in 2003. Morlon Greenwood Foundation seeks to help others overcome barriers that hinder performance and achievement, thereby changing the individual’s perception of educational achievement, social mobility and success, from an unattainable fantasy to a possible reality. Morlon always encourages others to be ambitious and to continue striving towards their greatest aspirations.
