Nick Tosches probably had a point there, but think about it: Ain..t dumb ass rock..n..roll usually the most fun? And let..s face it, Aalborg, Denmark’s Dirty Lyle ain..t exactly rocket scientists or brain surgeons but they sure as hell know how to crank out loud, good time rock..n..roll. Just listen to their recordings or go see them live and you will be treated to a shit-hot barrage of beer-soaked rocking tunes. And isn..t that whats it..s all about?
The group of deadbeats known as Dirty Lyle was formed in 2002 when former Unity Squad guitar slinger Thomas "Snuden" Christensen decided to put together a new group. Through a local dope dealer he had become acquainted with guitarist Jesper Georgsen(ex Questions) and drummer Ronnie Jensen (ex (Mind)-Pollution) and recruited these two dropouts into the nascent group. The first line-up was completede when former Unity Squad singer Carsten "Coma" joined the ranks, and the group began rehearsals at Aalborg..s renowned punk dive 1000FRYD in the summer of 2002. However, it soon turned out that Carsten wasn..t the right guy for the job and he was subsequently asked to leave the group. As a replacement the group invited Anders Petersen, a no-good egghead with no previous band experience, to come by for an audition. He was accepted into the band and this line-up started work on original material with the stated intention of playing local shows. The band had its live debut in the summer of 2003. The show saw the band dressed in full trucker vs. bad ass cop gear, lots of on-stage beer swilling and loud, kick-ass rock..n..roll. Following the debut show Dirty Lyle were invited to play the local hippie hang-out Fedtebrødet. The band has since played several shows there and maintains strong connections with Fedten to this very day. Also, the group was fortunate enough to open shows for the Sons of Cyrus (Sweden) and Estrus recording artists the Mistreaters.In january of 2004 Dirty Lyle entered Antfarm Studios in Århus to record with acclaimed metal producer Tue Madsen. What was originally supposed to be a 3 or 4 track demo turned into a 10 song full lenght album, so the band obviously decided to offer it to several labels for release. This resulted in an impressive total of zero offers! Things didn..t start happening until the band approached Fedtebrød and Ohm Records boss Bent O. and about a year after recording, Dirty Lyle..s debut disc "Threw it all away" was finally released, boasting 30 minutes of obnoxious, boot-to-the-groin rock music.2006 saw the departure of original member Thomas Christensen due to personal differences. The remaining members decided to keep the group going and finally decided to try out a bass player. Stig Vestergård (ex Gargoyle, Shake Appeal, Hellroute 16 etc.) was asked to try out and it soon became apparent that he was the missing link that fit these neanderthals.
Since adding Stig to the line-up Dirty Lyle have been working on new material, playing the occasional show and put out a live CD on Ohm Records. Hopefully Dirty Lyle will continue to kick out those nasty-ass jams in the years to come. Let..s just hope that not too many brain-cells will be getting in their way.... Layout made by lisag74
