About Me

.r{}I am obsessed with music and every aspect of it. It is a healthy obsession, I think, instead of being addicted to drugs, I have thousands of albums. Now I spin about 3-4 nights a week at various clubs or bars, and have my own Freelance DJ Business for Weddings, Birthdays or Corporate Events. I'm not a huge fan of spinning Top 40, but the payoff is worth the teeth grinding for a few hours, Haha.------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- I try to be open minded and accepting of all genres and sounds. Even if it's not really my cup of tea, I get a great sensation out of seeing someone that is deeply in love with that same cup of tea. I started listening to my mom's old records when i was little, but all she had was christian music, and old 60's hippie folk music. It was all too deep for a child's mind to register, but I still hummed all the melodies during the day. My Dad came to this country and loved disco, so that was a bit more up my alley. And then one day I discovered Michael Jackson.---------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- * * * * * * * * * Click here to get Falling Objects * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I know what you're thinking... "Big Deal, We all know Michael Jackson". This is not true, you do not truly discover his beauty till you find, "Lady In My Life", I Can't Help It", "Liberian Girl", "Heartbreak Hotel" or "Baby Be Mine". That opened my whole world to music, from there I went through my phases and obsessions. R&B and Soul pretty much started me off at 8 years old, until puberty. Then Goodie Mob and Outkast got me through some of the hardest years of my life. I pretty much listened to nothing but Rap and Hip Hop between ages 12 and 18, Insane Clown Posse, Eightball and MJG, DMX, Necro, MC Paul Barman, Heiroglyphics, The Roots. I heard Jamiroquai and began to drift away from Rap. Then came along DJ Krush. Holy Shit! When I first heard his Album "Code 4109", I thought there could be no better sound in the world. It was that album, that bridged my love of Hip Hop into the land of Trip Hop.-------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ Electronic Music flooded Rap away like a tsunami. Autechre, Photek, Aphex Twin and all the Warp Records stuff had a brief moment, Mad Professor and other Dub music stepped in for a sec. But Trip Hop and Downtempo was always a dominating force. DJ Cam, DJ Shadow, Thievery Corporation, Om Lounge Series, Mushroom Jazz Series, Zero 7, Tosca, Dzihan and Kamien, and Kruder and Dorfmeister. The only thing that came close was when I heard what Naked Music Had to offer with their Nude Dimensions and Carte Blanche Series. Prior to that, House music never really did it for me, but this was not what I had always heard at raves. This was some of the sexiest and most soul inspiring music I found. It made my body move in ways that were uncontrollable. I always danced around when I was home alone as a kid, but this music made me lose all control. I then found all the deep house giants like Master's at Work, Marques Wyatt, Mark Farina, Miguel Miggs. Eventually I fell for Jungle, Drum and Bass, and Breakbeats as well.------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- When I started working at a Funk Radio Station, I fell deeply for that grimey funk sound I heard as a kid, but never knew where to begin. Heatwave, Roy Ayers, P Funk, SOS Band, Afrika Bambaataa, O Jays, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Isaac Hayes, Commodores, Brick, Blackbyrds, Bar Kays, Confunkshun, Cameo, and Midnight Star. Eventually I sank into Classic Jazz and Jazz Funk sounds, like Donald Byrd, Herbie Hancock and Grover Washington. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------- My latest obsession is finding the Rare Groove stuff that was all sampled by the Hip Hop I grew up with. I guess I'm a bit of a crate digger now, always looking for that Jazzy/Funky tune that fueled my younger love of Hip Hop. Electro Funk is a big part of my life now, like Egyptian Lover, Malcolm Mclaren, Kraftwerk, and Newcleus, also Brokenbeat like Jazzanova, Bugz In The Attic, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Jazztronik and Truby Trio. Mostly anything that is Downtempo, Electro-Samba, Nu-Jazz or Soulful/Deep House is my flavor.
