I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into the world in Chicago some number greater than 21 years ago. My brothers were musical and the parental entities thought piano lessons for a 4 year old were a good idea. So off I went once a week – to no real impressive technical result but a deep for a love of music. The folks had lots of music around and my younger (and better looking [just ask him]) older had a popular rock band. This made an impression on me and I was a pain in his arse for the next several years until he finally taught me to play guitar. Fast forward several years and move to Hicksville (I mean Huntsville), Texas where a stranger in a strange land had nothing better to do than practice guitar for hours each day.I started playing in local clubs long before I was old enough to get into them through the front door. Then off to college (Texas Tech) where I crammed 4 years of psychology and music education into 6 years. Then off to college at Sam Houston Institute of Technology (lol) where they gave me a music degree just to get rid of me. I was lucky enough, during this time to play and study with some outstanding musicians… I even remember some of what I learned in and out of school.A move to Montreal, P.Q., Canada; Wakko, Texas; Newark, New Jersey; Rusk; Nacogdoches; Jacksonville and Tyler, Texas gets me here (I get dizzy thinking about it). Oh yeah I must have gone to school some more ‘cause I got a teaching certificate somewhere along the way as well – you know what they say – “You can always teach.†YEAH RIGHT!So now I get to play music with people like Gob Darien and Ken Johnson and Thomas Mitchell and George Faber and Grant Cook and lots of other great musicians all over East Texas. I am honored that they put up with me. We have a great time whenever we hit the stage. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thanks for listening
