Borstal is usually an institution of correctness and solving the problems and questions laid out in front of the youth, but the only question that needs answering about this Borstal, is why haven’t they been signed yet?Devised by Daniel Beckwith & William Clark in the summer of 2001, the newly formed hip hop group burst onto the Liverpool underground scene despite the 100% original material only being recorded on basic equipment. After more experience, Borstal got to grips with more advanced equipment, engineering and recording techniques and started to enter any competition that they could find, knowing that it was just a matter of time before somebody would pick up on their unique style and experimental sound. And they was right, when Juice FM called the two inviting them down for a 3 day interview and play 3 songs of theirs. Obviously, the attention was suddenly on Borstal, with Richard Morris saying that “Borstal’s Music Is Very Refreshingâ€. However that wasn’t enough, as proven when they took to radio airwaves again, on AIRRADIO.Their Anti-Bullying Anthem, "HELP ME" made number 32 on the top 40 charts when first debuted, and became an overnight success, but rather than jump on the bandwagon of “hottest thing out nowâ€, the two young musicians took a step back to work and improve their material. Later, they made an outstanding come back again on AIRRADIO, with a song called "GIRL" which got entered number 1 on AIRRADIO's new chart entry's and managed to stay on the top 40 charts for a staggering consecutive 18 weeks. Not bad for an unsigned duo in their bedroom.Borstal since then have been recording and performing non-stop, wether its another underground hit like Shake That, or a charity appeal at St. Julies, Borstal can manage their hands to anything, which is what makes their forthcoming demo, Plan B so special. With their newest track “Come And Get Me†sweeping the streets with their sound, Borstal look set to be better then they ever imagined they could be.
