Nancy....is simply in love with music. Trying to imagine life without it is a frightening thought for her. She believes she was born to sing, create, teach, absorb, arrange, and direct music. Born May 13, 1967 to Bishop J.L. Smith and the late Dorothy M. McKinsey, she is the youngest of six siblings. Four brothers and a sister, who in one way or the other, are also musically inclined. Her very first solo was at the tender age of six. She led the Adult Inspirational Choir at Shiloh Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska. To everyone's surprise she was a little girl with a BIG voice. Her young life would consist of winning many local talent shows in Columbus, Georgia, and opening for major R&B acts with her brothers/friends backing her in a band. In high school she sang for many school functions, beauty pageants, political affairs, and sports functions. However, in her late teens she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and begin to use the gift the Lord gave her to sing the Gospel. Nancy is also a choir director. She headed up the Anchorage Youth Chorale, founded by William Calloway, that consisted of over 200 young people ranging in ages 6 to 21, in Anchorage. Working with young people in ministry is also a passion for her. She is the proud mother of four beautiful GROWN children. A son, (Trey) and three daughters (Ashley, Courtney and Brittany). Her children love music as well, and her daughters are awesome singers! She and her daughers formed a group they call Nancy Smith & Levitical Praise. God has blessed them to travel to many places singing the praises of God. They've done some recording and hit some brick walls, but all of their experiences have come to increase their anointing and make them stronger! Although she still sings with her girls she is excited about finding herself again in her calling. She is currently working on her own solo project. Nancy believes that anyone can sing...but it's the anointing (power of God) that makes the difference! She believes that God allowed her to go through so much hurt, pain, and trauma at such a young age to prepare her for ministry and to be a blessing to HIS people! Nancy says, "the anointing comes with a high price tag, but I am up for the challenge". Keep her in her prayers as she embarks on a journey that she isn't sure where she will end up, but she's certain that God has her future in His hands! Every door that will open was already predestined, she's just waiting to walk through it!
