Born on the South Side of Chicago, Rob Ellis "Ellis Dj" formerly "Unit 1" ,has been banging the decks for quite some time. Getting his first taste of House Music at age 6, Rob has been obsessed of the 4/4 120ish kick groves and has been following it ever since. From Wkkc to the legendary Wbmx. later in live Rob had to do something other than listening to th music he loved. His older brother, Jason "Dj-Son" was already a seasoned house music dj, and showed Rob the basics. Form there, Rob has perfected mixing, blending and tweaking the knobs on the 12's. Finally confident enough Rob put out mix tapes at the age of 17 for his friends. The mixes were much loved but being young had limited Rob from getting much further with promoting himself.At 19, Rob landed some gigs at a local coffee shop in the Chicago burbs, he was able to meet other aspiring Dj's who shared his passion and began to network and build connections and fell into the late Chicago rave scene as he used local events to network and meet other well known dj's and hand out demo mixtapes. Finally meeting all the right and wrong people, Rob landed his first full scale rave event at 19 an from that point on was hooked on playing funky Jackin House for a crowd. Before he was of legal drinking age, Rob has played at various bars in Chicago and NW Indiana. Later in life, Rob moved to Arizona where he ran a few nights with Jacob R aka J-Daddy, at the late 'Heart V' and 'Vaudeville' where the crowds couldn't get enough of the Chicago funk these two brought to the desert. Later hooking up with a third partner Cris aka Deken, the Equal House Lenders were formed. Rob has opened up and played with various artists in Chicago and AZ such as Paul Johnson, Derrick Carter, Charles Feelgood, Cajmere, East Coast Boogiemen, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dj Rush, Stacey Kidd, Paul Okenfold (but who cares about him) Dj Sneak etc....etc... Rob has since moved back to Chicago where he now resides, bringing the heat to the decks and soon plans to lay down some truly jackin music to groove to. Today you can hear Ellis Dj jackin up the House at Local Chicago Spots Such as Zentra Night Club and others.
