About Me

I'm a drummer/composer from Iceland. I'm back in Reykjavik after 9 years of living in the US. I got my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Miami, where I also taught for a few years upon graduation. While living in Miami, I started getting more and more into composition, which I am now as passionate about as the drums. I even managed to receive the Icelandic Music Awards in 2006 for Best Jazz Composition! Before moving back to Iceland, I stopped over in New York for a while, where I recorded my first album, Cycles, which will be released in Iceland in November 2007. Having played on over 100 albums as a session musician, Cycles is my first album as a leader. On Cycles, I'm joined by my good friends and some of Iceland's finest musicians—Eythor Gunnarsson (piano), Skuli Sverrisson (bass), and Oskar Gudjonsson (tenor sax). I'm also a member of Iceland's premier funk group Jaguar - http://jaguar.is or http://myspace.com/jaguariceland , as well as recording and working with a bunch of talented artists.
