About Me

Today's quote by Kurt Vonnegut...
"Who is more to be pitied, a writer bound and gagged by policemen or one living in perfect freedom who has nothing more to say?" -Kurt Vonnegut

I'm sorry I have neglected you sweet profile, I realize that in your enigmatic html launguage...you love me. Alas, you require so much maintenance: endless photobucket uploads, color schemes, photo editing. I love you profile because you are solely dependant on me, I create you...you are only what I want you to be
... and you are me...

My Interests

I enjoy any outdoor activities. I enjoy meandering about town on my rust colored bike. I read mostly. Art in all it's form and array. I am newly interested in politics. I am trying to learn to sew. Nature photography. Animals... especially cats :). Mini-Golf. Rollerblades. Punctuation.

I'd like to meet:

I need more fort lauderdale friends :( ...preferably chicks! Anyone want to hang out?

adopt your own virtual pet!

Music:

Classic rock

Movies:

I'm not really a movie buff or anything. I like really bad, cheesy horror movies, zombie flicks, indie films, anything with bruce willis, kurt russell or kevin costner, comedy is cool as well :)

Television:

“The television, that insidious beast, that Medusa which freezes a billion people to stone every night, staring fixedly, that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little.” -Ray Bradbury

Books:

My favorites: Galapagos, Cat's cradle, Sirens of Titan, anything by Kurt Vonnegut!! Margaret Atwood, Chuck Palahniuk, Ray Bradbury, Joyce Carol Oates, T.C. Boyle, Roald Dahl, Ayn Rand, HG Wells, James Salter, Tim Dorsey is fun. My favorite short story is "the yellow wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. My favorite Hemingway is "islands in the stream" but I haven't read them all so that could change. I like anything related to the end of the world... Armageddon, large scale disasters and such. Just read Atonement, I should check out the movie soon...

Heroes:

I love my dad....

Contemplating the nature of human cruelty...

There is nothing sadder than seeing my injured cat. He is the sweetest most loving cat, he never hurt anyone. He lays on the couch, on medication, in pain, with no appetite. All I can do is comfort hi...

16.5 miles to freedom

Sometimes I get this feeling. It's like a faraway feeling... like being behind a glass wall or looking down on a city with binoculars. It's like looking down a long, dark tunnel to see real life on th...

15 miles to freedom

As always. I begin my quest as the day draws to a close. I cease to think of the mechanics of my movement, it's only about the distance. So I travel. There's nowhere really to go, I tried to reach the...

Criticism

My mantra goes: it doesn't matter, smile and forget. Smile and forget... It never hurt if it never happened. In fact it seems like second nature, the proverbial pin cushion for your needles of disappr...

Reflections on the dark highway

In the black of night at 2am, I tend to think of my own fragile mortality.Awakened by the chaotic patterns of cars gone astray.Debris.Destruction.But not death. This disaster was 15 seconds in the futu...

Stoicism

I have never been good at expressing myself. I remember at an early age, I developed the motto "suffer in silence" ..I saw emotions as signs of weakness, and thought that by denying them I would be a ...
