Hey guys! We are Ugly Thrash Demon, and we've been a band for about a year now. We founded in late 2007 in order to play a Coffeehouse for our High School, Westfield HS, and ended up becoming much more serious about it than we originally thought we would. The core group was founded when Chris and Philip started jamming together upon Chris getting his first guitar. Philip would play the piano, and eventually they grew a good dynamic for playing with each other. They branched out and eventually adopted the friends they had from the Band Department of the High School. Eventually bringing in other friends that played instruments that were desired, UTD was created and rehearsed within two weeks upon playing there first show.
As for the name, it is a obviously a misnomer as we aren't metal at all, it spawned from our cellists brothers mind, as he had an entire epic story for a hardcore metal band coming up from the ashes named Ugly Thrash Demon. We saw it fitting.
In recent news, we won Third Place at the Washington DC Battle of the Bands, The Next Big Thing. It is hosted by Concerts First and involves 3 major venues in DC including the 9:30 Club, Rock and Roll Hotel, and DC9. Upwards of a 100 bands played at this Battle of the Bands, so we're extremely happy to have ranked.
