About Me

Sophia Rapti was born in N.Y., USA where she lived up to her 13th birthday. She then moved to Greece where she finished high school and later studied classical music at the National Conservatory of Greece. There she acquired two certificates (one as a vocalist and one as a pianist). Along with her studies, because of her knowledge of the English language and her love for modern American music, she never lost interest in rock, jazz, blues and pop music. Her first attempt as a professional singer and musician was her cooperation with Vangelis Germanos, whom she sang and played the piano with in concerts all over Greece. At two of those concerts they had the privilege of being the support group to Bob Dylan during his performances in Greece in Patra and Athens. This gave her the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of people. She also took part in the album entitled “Yupi Ya” where she sang a duet with Vangelis ( a song called “Sagapo Sagapo”) and of course all the backing vocals. Since then, she has worked as a singer with many famous Greek artists such as: Dimos Moutsis, Nikos Portokaloglou, Nikos Ziogalas, Kostas Bigalis, Dionisis Tsaknis, Laurentis Mahairitsas, Basilis Papakonstantinou, Dimitris Poulikakos, George Pilali, etc. She has also taken part in the rock opera “Daimones” by Nikos Karvelas, where she had the chance to show not only her talent in singing but also in acting and dancing. However, her love for pop, rock, funky and soul music urges her to form a band of her own called The All Most Funk. Together they have played all over Greece (sponsored by a well known beer company), plus in all the best clubs in Athens. Her cooperation with a large blues club of Athens has given her the opportunity to play alongside some of the biggest blues artists internationally such as: Willie Smith, M.J.Vaughn, Roy Roberts, P. Price, and Harmonica Shah. She was also lead singer of the band C:Real with whom she has published a CD at Planetworks Records entitled “Stop Killing Time”. The hit song has the same title as the album and there has also been a video clip of this song. She is recently a member of The Beatles Live Tribute Band, a 15-man band who of course play tribute to the Beatles. They have had many performances in big clubs of Athens (House of Art, Oksigono, Zygos) and also two special performances at the Megaro Mousikis Athinon, the National Hall of Music. They have also very successfully taken part in the international Beatles festival in the USA where they are known as The Greek Beats. A CD has also come out, which is a recording of one of their live performances. It is entitled “We Love the Beatles”, and has been published by Legend Records. Currently she is working on a new project which will hopefully come out soon. This is in cooperation with many well-known Greek artists.
