My Interests

What’ should you know about the internet version of me…well I enjoy reading. Nothing in particular, just stuff at the thrift store, old books from friends, and the NYTIMES, SLATE.COM and blogs. My favorite blogs to read right now are (listed in no particular order) stuffebplike.com (stuff educated black people like), consumerist.com (its about shoppers fighting back; very funny), jalopnik.com (this is how they describe themselves -- daily automobile news and gossip for those obsessed with the cult of cars), egmcartech.com (its like jalopnik but less obsessed, thefader.com (from the hottest music magazine), facehunter.blogspot.com (street fashion from STOCKHOLM), apartmenttherapy.com (daily stuff for your apt), lifehacker.com (software and personal productivity recommendations, downloads, web sites and shortcuts that help you work smarter and save time) and finally zenhabits.net (articles about keeping your life simple).

I'd like to meet:

Anyone from my past (schools, church, etc), its always good to reconnect.Anyone from DA (Dominica).Anyone who likes MF DOOM, MAXWELL, E BADU, Jamiroquai, DE LA SOUL, Little Brother, COMMISSIONED, FRED HAMMOND, ROOTS, NAS, A Tride Called Quest, COMMON, KANYE WEST, DIP SET, Jay Dilla (start reading the credits) and R. Saadiq (aka Ray Ray). Just Holla.

Music:

This will just be a list of whatever comes to mind, and whats in heavy or recent rotation: Ananda Project – Fire Flower album, Jamie Callum “Twenty Something,” Getz/Gilberto ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED from 1964 in Brazil (I can’t understand all the lyrics, but this is dope...just let it play), K-OS (dope artist from Toronto), Buckshot and 9th Wonder – The Formula (I highly recommend this to anyone who was a back-packer or fell into that category. (This album is like a modern day interpretation of New York City hip-hop from the early 1990s). The ROOTS – Rising Down; Jackson Conti – Sujinho (from itunes – This is a groups comprised of Madlib (Otis Jackson and Ivan “Mamao” Conti. I can only describe it as slightly urban-brazillian-Jazz fusion. I also like Tye Tribbet’s new album Stand Out. I can’t stand when when “gospel music” tries to sound “street” or urban. It’s never done right. Hip Hop music has an edge and attitude that’s very difficult to translate in an environment of humility and worship. I like Tye’s album because he’s not trying to do that. Its just good gospel music, that’s very fresh and relavent. The guitars on this album bring something different to the table, just listen to see what I mean. I haven’t really been excited about anything else in particular. I do like my weekly podcast of deep soul house music. I highly recommend checking out casamena and rooted grooves on itunes. Anyway below is a list of my favorite artist of all time.MF DOOM, MAXWELL, Madlib, E BADU, Jamiroquai, DE LA SOUL, COMMISSIONED, FRED HAMMOND, A Tribe Called Quest, COMMON, KANYE WEST, Jay Dilla (start reading the credits

Movies:

Match Point, The Best Man; Brown Sugar; Matrix; Snatch; Momento; Hero; Thomas Crown Affair; and...300....I think its gonna make this list for good. I also like almost anything by Spike Lee and Woody Allen.

Television:

Cash Cab; Jepeady, and NOVA. Currently I don’t really watch TV as much as I use to. I use netflix, hulu.com and surfthechannel.com to watch The Office, and the Boondocks.

Books:

The Flying Spaghetti Monster Lives | I have been touched by His Noodly Appendage | Join the Pastafarians | Bring back the pirates! Add me as a friend fsmismyhero

Heroes:

Ben Carson, (I wish I read his book as a child as opposed to an adult. I bought 5 and gave to those dear to me) my mother, (she's provided crazy support through example more than words.) my father, (he sacrificed so much for my 2 sisters and I, and always said "you know the situation," but I just found out when I started working myself) Cordell and Padget; these guys mentored all the young boys and girls in my church growing up. I am at the point where I don't think I can do for the next generation what they did for me.

The New iPHONE is $160 More Expensive than the old iPHONE---article from consumerist.com

Apple's new 3G iPhone might seem like a bargain at $199: more features, 3G speeds, and $200 cheaper than the original model. Great, except it's not actually cheaper. The new $199 iPhone is actually $1...
