Finkster and Matherson

About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorFinkster and Matherson represents the fusion of two unique personalities and musical styles into one magical potion of folk, funk, and good times.KEN FINKSTER was born and raised in the Tulsa area. As a young child he displayed a talent for licking buckets. His parents, concerned that he may one day lick the wrong bucket, steered his interest towards playing the guitar.Years later Ken exploded onto the Shakey's open mic music scene in Tulsa with his debut album, KEN: BY REQUEST ONLY. His unique acoustic stylings were a hit among the closing kitchen staff who often requested his breakout single, "Where Did All the Rainbows Go?"Although his follow-up album, KEN: A RESPECTABLE DISTANCE FROM YOUR FACE, was never released in the US, the tracks for the album will be included on the new Finkster and Matherson album, SONS OF A GUN.Ken still continues to play the Shakey's open mic circuit on Tuesday nights. He lives a sensitive, quiet life in Tulsa where he enjoys spending evenings at home tending to his large collection of hamsters. He is currently enrolled as a student at The University of Pheonix Online majoring in Physical Education with a minor in Home Economics.CODY MATHERSON is a bit of an enigma. Not much is known about his early childhood. He spent many of his teen years traveling on the Vaudeville Circuit until someone finally pointed out that Vaudeville had been over since the early 1930s.Cody returned to Tulsa and met Ken Finkster at a garage sale when they both tried to buy the same meat dehydrator. While Cody had no formal musical training, Ken realized that Cody's smooth, deep, chocolate voice would be the perfect compliment to his own folksy tenor. A musical legacy was born.Currently Cody can be found at his favorite Hooters drinking Zima "by the caseload" and watching his daytime "stories." After that he may head down to the studio and record some tracks. He's free for dinner though, if you have any ideas. Otherwise, he'll probably hit up Club Cheetah and dance all night. I don't know. Give him a call. Play it by ear.
