About Me

A brainy ditz. Or a ditzy brain. Or a cool dork. Or something like that. Whatever.Delightedly married to Al and enjoying our quirky new-to-us-but-very-old house and our extra large garage.Trying to figure out a way to grow orange and avocado trees in Virginia. There must be a way.Currently learning what the world smells like when it's not filled with smoke. I'm actually liking it a lot. And oxygen... well, it's like, so cool, and it seems to go right to the brain, and it makes everything seem so much more, like, VIVID and COLORFUL. No promises though, to anyone but myself, on that issue.

My Interests

I am fascinated by bright colors, good smells, tasty food, strange languages, excellent music, anything I can make or change or fix up myself, and being aloft. And even though I've never been in a hot air balloon, I know I would love that, too.

I'd like to meet:

Amelia Earhart. No, I'm serious. I really want to know what happened.Actually, there are quite a few people I'd like to meet.

Music:

Floating Men, Wilco, Alejandro Escovedo, Alison Krauss, Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, Etta James, Concrete Blonde, ... Know WHAT? Just go to www.last.fm and look up my username (amfmw).

Movies:

Lost in Translation, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,*, Amelie, Chocolat, Shakespeare in Love, Sex and Lucia, Rat Race, The Big Lebowski, Moulin Rouge, Adventures in Babysitting, Ocean's Twelve, for the capoeira scene alone), Run Lola Run, and yeah, Boondock Saints. Napoleon Dynamite is merely growing on me. And there was some French movie that I saw 15 years ago dubbed in German (The Fete) that I'd love to see again.*But I really didn't like Snatch, for the record.

Television:

I'm really addicted to programs made by people I know, programs I worked on, and anything that is DIY or how-to oriented. I especially like programs featuring bright colors. I also like Northern Exposure, even though Alaska in winter doesn't seem to have a lot of bright colors. And the other Al is getting me hooked on That 70's Show, and possibly other cartoonish shows that I won't actually admit to likiing in public.

Books:

All books are my friends. Hell, I'll even read the back of the cereal box if there's nothing else around.Um, actually, I read a book once that I didn't like. I donated it to goodwill. The rest are breeding in the night, and taking up more and more shelves.
