Reviews -"I'm not paying $8 to watch a couple of dykes sing about how much they hate men!" - Anonymous
"Who doesn’t love an all-girl punk rock band? The Pretty Boys were the kind of band that should be playing at a fundraising benefit for the all-female Roller Derby team. The three extremely hot, kick-ass chicks rocked it; they were fun, clean and tight. Lisa, Hanny and Julie are no pretenders; they were successful at brilliantly pulling it all together while ramming sweet noxious tunes into our heads. The Pretty Boys were the perfect opening act." Julie-Ann Ellis from Faster Louder
"The Pretty Boys are not boys, nor do they play pretty music. With blistering powerchord speed, this trio of angry young girls rebuild the demolished Gabba Hotel with every punk rock yelp and mach speed tune. The F-bomb gets lyrically dropped so many times I wonder if lead singer Hanny has Tourette's syndrome. Fun stuff, with only one speed and volume: fast and loud as fuck. Anyone mourning the demise of Brisbane's own Hymies would do well to check them out." Tal Wallace from TimeOff 23.08.08
"A decent amount of people are inside the Zoo for first cab, or band, off the rank, The Pretty Boys. Don’t be fooled by the band name though, three ladies take to instruments and kick the evening off. From the opening song there was a three strong mosh-pit that was lapping up the energy that forced its way from the speakers. This continued for the whole set. It’s mohawk destroying music with hard riffs and fast drumming and the whole thing contains the punk ethos of years gone by. As a unit the ladies are extremely well practiced and the whole set is tight and almost impossible to faulter. Songs including Slaughter, Don’t Preach and I can’t lose get inclusion. Julie’s back-up vocals meandered in and out during the set but on the bass she put male counterparts to shame. The closer Victims was an incredible finish to the evening and as they said, “Check us out around Brisbaneâ€. It was such an impressive half hour that it would be in everyone’s best interest to do so." Brittles from Faster Louder
Originating in Brisbane, the Pretty Boys formed in mid 2007; the day that rum and passion pop fused together to create a cocktail of punk, rock and roll party anthems . During this time Lisa joined the duo and mixed the concoction with her drumsticks of death. Whilst having fun at what they do, they stand and voice their opinions through their blistering guitar riffs, tubthumping bass, pavement-pounding drum chops and angsty vocals.
The Pretty Boys have played alongside the Assassinators (Den), the Black Market, Blowhard, Boondal Boys, Busymen, Crux (Syd), Dangermen, Deathcage (Syd), Dementia 13, the Disables, F1-Elevens, the Go Set (Mel), HITS, Jack Flash, Jobson's Dreamkillers, the Jim Rockfords, Magic Dirt, Mouthguard, the Pints, the Quickening, Red Sun Band, Scarface Claw (NZ), Sonic Porno, Sponge Dregz, Teargas, the Ten Fours, This War (Melb), Useless Children (Mel)
