The Maggots

hatched in 1977, The Maggots were a punk band from san francisco, california, formed by drummer/songwriter Jane Weems, and her pals Robert Conner, & Richard Giron...after actually buying real instruments, and learning how to play, richard soon dropped out after recording their first song called F.O.B....a deragatory term meaning "fresh off the boat" and an insult to all philipinos except himself!...we put up an ad in aquarius records over on castro street, and from this, we met Rich Mostert, & Dino Santamaria, who helped to greatly improve the Maggots sound, as they could actually play REAL CHORDS!!...they even had real amps!...we needed a singer, so, Jane turned to the Punkest chick she knew, miss VICKI BERNDT, leader of the infamous SAN JOSE CONTINGENT, '77...we knew we would never really play live, because poor vicki was so shy, she wouldn't even sing in front of us!!...we had to go to radioshack, and buy the longest michrophone cord they had, because vicki could only sing from inside a dark little closet in the basement!!...we got her to record this record, on the promise that it would be on the first take...we got another girl SUSAN GARZA to record 2/2/79, the day sid vicious died, and though we were gonna play out, but, we never got out of jane's parents basement except 1 time!...mike from aquarius records even played in our band that night!! but, the classic vinyl lives on here, for everyone to check out!
