Cause+Effect is Mark Hartshorn, a 27 year old musician from Swindon UK.
From an early age I was heavily into music of all kinds, growing up listening to everything from Rock to Funk to Electronica and Dance. Teaching myself to play the guitar, drums and piano throughout school years I performed and recorded in several bands before going solo to produce electronic music ranging from obscure electro to drum and bass.
I began Djing in 2000 building up a reputation on the south west UK free party scene before gaining a residency with a radio station in Gloucester in 2004. Moving on from there in 2005 I set up the label Close 2 Death Recordings with Seizure, Jamie B and Dan Switchback, initially a digital download only label we built up a strong reputation with up and coming and well known production talent and went on to fund and secure distribution for the first vinyl release in 2006. I continued to administer, Co manage and promote the label for 2 years recording studio mixes for local radio GFM and performing as part of the collective until early 2007 when I moved back to Swindon with my wife Ellie to start a family.
After some time away from the scene I have now begun to explore my musical roots again writing electro/hip hop and drum and bass, putting together a live set over the next year to perform under the alias Cause+Effect....
