Lilium Aeris was born in 2006 to explore ancient sounds linked to medieval tradition, thanks to the encounter of artists sharing a personal need for a musical research both vital and sensible. The first part of our study was dedicated to the music of troubadours, moved by a necessity for essentialness, perhaps purity, that can be perceived through the clear, simple melodies of the voice singing in an archaic, melodious language, accompanied by evocative instruments such as harp and recorder. Love, jealousy, desperation, pride for one's own poetic calling, rivalries and whole nights spent together until dawn are some of the topics the poems speak of, in the same language which others later used to signify the soul's journey towards perfection, in that fusion between erotic vocabulary and spiritual meaning that always belonged to the mystic tradition.
