If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story - Orson Welles

About Me

Cogito Ergo Sum: 'I Think, Therefore I Am' - Rene Descartes
** Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly; Man got to sit and wonder, 'Why, why, why?' Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land; Man got to tell himself he understand. ...................... Kurt Vonnegut - Cat's Cradle (1963) **
** I do not consider myself less ignorant than most people. I have been and still am a seeker, but I have ceased to question stars and books; I have begun to listen to the teachings my blood whispers to me. My story is not a pleasant one; it is neither sweet nor harmonious, as invented stories are; it has the taste of nonsense and chaos, of madness and dreams - like the lives of all men who stop deceiving themselves. .......... Hermann Hesse - Demian (1925) **
** I had no doubt that I could do something, but what, and how? I had no contacts and I believed in nothing. And the obsession with my identity which I had developed in the factory hospital returned with a vengeance. Who was I, how had I come to be?................................................... Ralph Ellison - Invisible Man (1952) **
** Let him look at it - his beach, perverted now to the tastes of the tasteless; he could search it for a day and find no stone of the Chinese Wall he had once erected around it, no footprint of an old friend............. F. Scott Fitzgerald - Tender is the Night (1933) **
** "For my heart," I wrote, "will always be with the drunk, the poet, the prophet, the criminal, the painter, the lunatic, with all whose aims are insulated from the humdrum business of life" ................................ Frederick Exley - A Fan's Notes (1968) **
**Christians talk about the horror of sin, but they have overlooked something. They keep talking as if everyone were a great sinner, when the truth is that nowadays one is hardly up to it. There is very little sin in the depths of the malaise. The highest moment of a malaisian's life can be that moment when he manages to sin like a proper human. .............. Walker Percy - The Moviegoer (1961) **
** This was the first time that anyone had told me anything like the truth about myself. I felt it powerfully. That, as he said, I did have opposition in me, and great desire to offer resistance and to say "No!" which was as clear as could be, as definite a feeling as a pang of hunger. ................... Saul Bellow - The Adventures of Augie March (1953) **
Don't let them fool you, you know deep down, that this is it, all there is, and you better get everything out of it that you can.....
Trying not to be bothered by the little things (or the big ones), and to be as accepting as I can of all that is absurd and frustrating. Just trying to make the most of my life, and experience as many things as possible. Many people say that, I really do it. Travel, turmoil, food, fun and excitement; I get my share and more.
Go somewhere - go anywhere, it brings meaning to life. Favorite cities: NYC, New Orleans, Paris, Venice, Rome, Honolulu. Favorite Places: All of Hawaii, France, southern Tuscany and the Mediterranean seaside in Italy, the Alps, the Rocky Mountains, Lake Tahoe.

My Interests

I'm interested in why everyone seems to think they are so important - And why are so many people fascinated by celebrities? - I wonder why people try so hard to fit in - I wonder why alcohol is legal, but drugs aren't - I am curious why some people think they know what 'god' is and what 'god' wants - I am interested in people, but being around them is often a strain - I am just trying to get through life, in the world we live in, without killing myself (or anyone else).

In general - Spending time w/ friends and family, skiing, history, social justice, philosophy, existentialism, socialism, reading, learning, yoga, music, music festivals, movies, the mountains, surfing, the beach and the ocean, traveling, paba free lotions, the Terps and the Ravens.

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking - Racing around to come up behind you again - The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older - Shorter of breath and one day closer to death - PINK FLOYD

I'd like to meet:

People with at least half a brain (not as many people as you might think) and people who think for themselves (still fewer people).
This might be easier - PEOPLE I DON'T WANT TO MEET: capitalist pigs, salesmen, anyone religious, 'punks', people who live 'in the city', anyone who defines themselves as 'a surfer', social conservatives, Hummer h2 owners (or any 06' or later SUV drivers in general - fucking arrogant selfish pigs), most cops (fascist pigs), hunters, golfers (mini-golfers ok), 'career minded' people, politicians, players or 'playas', present or former 'jocks', cigar aficionados, anyone into 'organic living', lacrosse players, teachers pets, good ol' boys, or anyone who refers to themselves in the third person.
I don't suffer fools easily. However, I do hold out hope that there may be people out there who get it, and I just haven't run across them yet. Are they on myspace?...........seems unlikely, but you never know.
