It's kinda difficult to define the purpose behind FillACart.org. Our idea behind this endeavor was to provide an outlet for those individuals that want to make a difference in their community by donating goods, money, or time to local charities. Sometimes one loses motivation to donate or volunteer because they don't have peers that share the same values. Here, we're a community!
:D
This isn't a gimmick--at all. It's more like a forum. A way for those like-minded individuals to share their experiences and inspire others to act in similar ways. There isn't a competition or a winner. The "totals" are our way of just keeping tabs on all of the goods our teams have provided; a"visual representation" of the things we can provide for others.
How the site works itself in:
Honestly, the site isn't very important--your good deeds are! But the site can be just another tool to motivate your friends and family to do something of the sort for those in need in their own communities. We will provide sample shopping lists and ideas just in case you're stumped about what kind of items you can purchase for donations.
We will help you locate food banks or donation centers in need in your area.
We will come up with ideas to help out the community during the "off season."
We will feature testimonies from those that donate and those that receive. How inspiring these stories can get.
The more people we get involved, the more people we're able to help!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to direct them our way. We are more than willing to help out in any way possible!
The Following Paragraph is taken from our Our Story Page From Our Web Site FillACart.org .
You might be surprised to hear just how this whole idea got started. It started on a Sunday evening in October. On monday, a food drive at my roommates' work was ending. When they checked the bin, there was only a few items that had been collected. What's worse is the charity, Metropolitan Ministries, had recently announced they were completely out of food.We had planned on going to see a movie that night, but instead went to shop for some food to donate. Once we got to the first aisle, we had a dilemma. What to buy? How much to buy? How much to spend?Norasha suggested that we think of our trip as stocking up a few families for a holiday meal. We decided to buy three of everything to do with the holidays: stuffing, green beans, yams, you get the picture.
