I'm a 17 year old musician from Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire.
I didn't start out playing the guitar (I only picked that up about 3 years ago). I learnt to play the trombone at primary school although I didn’t really develop the love of playing music until I reach secondary school. Here I still carried on my trombone lessons with Mr Hurst and he was the one who really gave me this love for music, never discouraging me from trying new music and exploring new ideas.
I decided to play the guitar because of listening to my favourite bands/songwriters and also many people at school played and I guess I wanted to be one of those people who could play the guitar. I got myself a cheap classical guitar and took lessons from John Lambert, who is still teaching me now. He taught me the basic chords, a few easy songs and that was it off I went.
My first song was wrote in September 2006 I think and I remember just playing a few chords and humming a tune to it. Eventually I came up with the lyrics and the song was called ‘I love you girl’ – sounds cheesy and probably is but many people say that it is the best song I have written.
From this i just kept on playing and exploring new guitar sequences that I had been taught in my lessons. In Early 2007, after much persuasion I decided to show my music to Greg Murray. He was great, never putting my music down and always (and still is) giving me tips to improve and make my songs better (you should go and check out his music here on myspace).
After a few average covers in school assemblies; I finally plucked up the courage to play one of my own songs in a key stage 4 assembly. This was a great experience and something that I hope to keep doing, also the feedback and comments from people who heard it was amazing. Mr G is also another person who is always encouraging me and offering advice.
I had my first gig at the Glebe in Stoke on the 20th February and loved every minute of it. Any gig venues or promotions who would like me to play please get in touch by messaging me on here
Please add your comments so I can get an idea of what you think of my music and spread the word so i can get as many people listening as possible. Thank you for taking your time to visit my profile and to listen to my songs.
