Idleman Dan

Paradise For Idleman's Idle People

About Me

Hi. I'm Dan.Self-indulgent, narcissistic, and above all else...pretty crap at everything. Okay, actually I'm not a bad person. I can say please and thank you and hold doors open for...most people.
Solo, experimental guitar stuff - that's a euphemism for a lot of noise, which in turn is a euphemism for...well, you listen and make your mind up. You can make your mind up of whatever you like...even cotton candy.
I started playing guitar at age 13 and have never put it down since...well, okay, I put it down quite a lot otherwise my fingers would bleed and I'd get tired, hungry and smelly, but then I'm smelly already.
Music theory is something I've considered learning but I have serious trouble counting after number 2, so getting up to 4 or 7 or those other weird numbers could be tricky.
Bands I've been in that you will never have heard of: Victimise and No Tomatoes.
When not playing guitar I'm looking at naked ladies on the internet usually doing something else.
When I grow up, should that ever happen (I'm 32 at the time of writing), I want to be a window cleaner. It's a good job and the only way I'll ever get to go up in the world. The school careers officer said, "Don't set your goals too high." I'll prove her wrong when I've cleaned the top floor windows at the college.
Some people ask why my screename is idleman. If you listen to the tracks you'll understand why. No drums, bass, keyboards...or talent for that matter.
I use a guitar, four-track, and my hands and fingers and elbows and possibly some other bits on these recordings...oh and one of those crappy multi-effects pedal thingies. Actually they're a con. Multi-effects my arse, they haven't had one bit of effect on my neighbour's constant moaning about the noise.
Presently working on experimental midi compositions and proper pretentious poetry to acoustic guitar stuff.
