Starving Artists of Philly at the Fig

About Me

KICK-ASS SONGWRITER SERIES IN A UNIQUE LISTENING ROOM
For almost a year, Starving Artists of Philadelphia at The Fig on Last Sundays has been featuring the best Philadelphia-area acts in a unique, fun setting. Having cultivated audiences who care about music, Starving Artists features songwriters spotlighted alone, or with their bands or ensembles, in front of viewers and listeners who have chosen to wind down their weekend having the best original music the area has to offer be their soundtrack. The series also has the charitable mission of raising money for the Philadelphia organization, Autism Living and Working (ALAW), a foundation that upgrades education, works with government to improve legislation, and locates housing for individuals with autism and Asperger's Syndrome (check out www.AutismLivingWorking.org). By offering unique gifts at the merch and beverage tables to every cash donor, this monthly event has raised substantial monetary aid for this ALAW, and the resultant cheery good will is felt throughout the venue. The atmosphere of The Fig is sweetened by a fun and attentive clientele, who serve up Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern cuisine in a pretty living-room style eatery that also may precisely be referred to as a "hookah bar" (yes, fruit-flavored hookahs are also the rage at The Fig, dispensed by groovy wait staff dishing out ornately metaled hookahs, babaganoush, humus, baklava and more). Singing partners, Mike and Lisa DellaVecchia, are the producers of the show and help the music and fun for all. Come one... Come all... And get Figged!
