After numerous guerilla like raids (get-in-do-as-much-damage-as-possible-and-get-out type of thing during 302 gigs) on the delicate ears and souls of unsuspecting audiences around Europe, the band Brotherhood Foundation who preceded yet another onslaught of high profile, energetic acts, had fought it's way to such tremendous heights only to soon after crash and burn somewhere in the midst of the buzzing urban jungle. It's critically wounded passengers reportedly were carried off to a nearby laboratory where the majority of them underwent several radical operations after which they were immediately submitted to all kinds of mysterious tests and experiments in an attempt to rewrite the future and guess what..
WELCOME TO THE NEW FUTURE!
In the ensuing recovery period the 3 remaining band members together with one other bandcrashcasualty underwent a chilling transformation and became transhuman in their ideas and musical expression. Exploring new ways of communicating feelings, emotions and thoughts by means of sound led them through still largely uncharted territory, which in turn broke and rebuilt their confidence in such a way that not even diagnosed sane they found themselves ready again to get at it. Bringing their music to the people. To you! So they overtook the lab by force packed it into their brand new vessel launched under the name Chillburn and took off in search of new minds and souls to infect, spreading a new and irresistible vibe. Their music and performances prove a combined cure, natural high and tranquilizer to themselves, so they set out to test it on the rest of the world to see if they are susceptible to the Chillburn X-periment!
Meanwhile up in their flying lab our four mad scientists are in the process of deconstructing their musical heritage, breaking it down to the bare essentials and mixing it with whatever is lying around, whether it be a little movie inspired drama, multimedia high speed chasing, or mindbogling literary plots, some personal anguish and anxieties, wholesome re-ran tv series, cybersex or even an occasional political statement, nothing is unfit for use when you're trying to get across a certain point or feeling. It's like they try to re-invent and simultaneously restyled their favorite bands to custom fit their NOW and FUTURE needs. This already resulted in a couple of remixes for friends, including Brotherhood Foundation itself, 2nd Place Driver, Altar and also Dimension Seven. This really got their juices flowing and got them anxiously looking for other bands to re-do. So get in touch with their lab!
All this might lead people to think Chillburn is no more than this sterile hard and cold concept, a rigid figment of the combined imaginations of 4 technicians, who live, breathe and experiment in their lab and will prove not viable outside it. Nothing could be further from the truth however. Chillburn inherited the live fighting spirit from their predecessors Brotherhood Foundation (the critically acclaimed inventors of crowd surfing, according to one leading dutch newspaper) and are willing and ready to die up on stage if necessary. "We will not stop proving our live ability until the entire world has taken notice and has an opinion about us, confides Pat. The maniacally driven front man proves to be a musical centipede during gigs while he not only sings, screams and employs spoken word, but also controls samples, fidgets with all kinds of buttons, faders and knobs, hammers on keyboards, tortures the strings on an unfortunate guitar and scourges some drumheads to finish it all off! He has been described as a mad version of David Bowie, Trent Reznor and Chino Moreno rolled into one, what more spectacle do you want? He however has an outspoken view on it: "I am I, UNIQUE is the keyword here!"
Synth guitarist Jeps once characterized as psychotic: "When I grab my guitar I completely snap and slip into what my psychiatrist calls: this dark seemingly sealed off dimension, a cube which leads only to booby trapped cubes of the same order that surround it and surround it and surround it etc... I see it as my own private hell, with my own private demons, in which I fail to recognize any boundary and am a threat to all that's around me. I struggle through the maze of cubicles to get to the one single exit, the only way to do this is by finishing our entire set. Our music as our exorcist so to speak."
Bass morphologist Jay enters the stage, after a brief stint in the thrash metal scene, with an advanced style of pounding strings (down tuned to A!) and an array of eyebrow raising noises. He lays down and spreads out these compelling yet inspiring foundations on which the others can build the superstructures. "A gig to me is like driving this 20000 pound monstertruck at 120 miles per hour straight through the venue, the band is my pumped up soundsystem pounding at 115 db and the accelerator is glued to the floor. My engine growling, grunting, howling and droning, the band stomping, the audience begging for mercy, the superlative degree of MOST DIVINE has yet to be defined but doesn't even start to describe it!"
All the experimenting and lab testing finally lead to the release of an extremely powerful and varied debut demo titled: "Enemies Of Silence" Only yet the bands first real-release (if you don't count the remix tracks on a couple of other bands albums) on 4 track MD recorded. Soon after that More Enemies Of Silence got released, followed by Join The Machines which put the band on the map. Shows in Germany (M'era Luna) and London's Underworld followed as supports for bands as The Cruxshadows and Prong. The new album "Beautevil" is just finished and you can catch a piece of it already here on MySpace.com "Beautevil" is announced as an image evoking product, cinematic and manipulative by design, the ultimate atmospherical experience by default. Ne Plus Ultra in every way! Embracing and utilizing unexpected outcomes of the wrongful- or misuse of their equipment, the band members force their personal growth one song after another. It's the NOW sound, one time empty and haunting, then almost collapsing under the weight and complexity of it's layers and devastating. It's all that and everything in-between. Influenced by all that's nasty and unhealthy, from Depeche Mode to Slipknot, from The Cure to Nine Inch Nails, from Faith No More to Reprazent, from Duran Duran to Orgy, from The Human League to Prodigy and from Gary Numan to Timbaland and the urban sound craze. So don't be surprised if this mix turns out to be the FUTURE sound as well!
Remember you WILL get Chillburned once you get in contact with them, if so do not rub or rinse, let it soak for a while and your life will never be the same again, YOU WILL BE MARKED FOR LIFE!!!
Make yourself known and receive our blessing.
