About Me

TRIO JAMBOLBirgit Schinkel: alto flute, C flute, bamboo flute Marcus Schinkel: piano Fritz Roppel: bassYou take a classical flautist, a jazz pianist, and a tango bassist and what do you get? Trio Jambol!Masters in their fields, these musicians carry the audience with them on a stylistic journey through music history, ranging from Händel and Teleman to Mozart all the way to tangos brasilieros by Ernesto Nazareth, a mix between Chopin and Scott Joplin. This journey through time ends with rhythmic pieces by Dave Brubeck and the firey Latino Michel Camilo. Even original compositions which freely move between classical and jazz can be found here. The trio formed for a concert tour through the Caribbean aboard the ZDF-Traumschiff, the MS Deutschland. Further appearances followed, including some at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn.Birgit Schinkel is an in-demand flautist, having played such challenging musicals as Jekyll and Hyde (Cologne) and Elton John's Aida (throughout Europe). She made a name for herself with her clear, luminous flute tone. Additionally, she has composed music for the "Confluenza 2005" for the exhibition at the Ludwigmuseum in Koblenz.Fritz Roppel is one of the most versatile bassists in the region, one who can play classiccally as well as swing on the instrument. He is currently touring Germany with tango ensembles and also plays as a sideman with well-known jazz and pop groups.
